MG MG Y Type - YA rear seat springs
Hi All Am sorting out the rear seat in the YA and have discovered a few of the coil springs have rusted away at the narrow end and a couple of the joining links need replacing as well. Does anyone know of a company that supplies suitable bits for this sort of springing, preferably UK based ? Many thanks as always John B Y4424 Or, just a thought, does anyone have an old seat they are not using and will not use that i could acquire the bits from? Cheers |

You may be in luck John. I have just picked up some YA seat springs with sone other parts for my car. They may be for the front seats though. They are rusty of course but there are a lot of them, perhaps a seats worth, maybe even two as I haven't clue how many are needed. I don't need them and only took them as I thought they may come in handy some day. You are welcome to take what you need. Email me about this. I could send them if they are suitable or bring them to the 3 counties showground do if you can wait that long.

Ian that is absolutely brilliant . I will compare the front and rear and make a final check of how many then I will get back to you with a pm. Thanks again John B On a different note the Y type engine started again and ran for the first time since 1973 !!!!!!!!I am still smiling . |

This is what I have John. As I said I think they are for the front seats but they may be the same lengths as the rear. Ian |

Hi guys, The rear seat springs, (there are 3 different sizes) are generally heavier and are about twice the free height. cheers KG |

John I have a rear seat squab and back that I can sacrifice for some springs for you here in the US. Send me an email with pictures of the location of the springs you need and I can compress them and box them up for you. Paul |

Thanks Paul, I will email you. I think Ian's are probably for the front seats . KG is currently measuring some whole springs for me so I know what I am looking for . Thanks a lot John B 4424 |

Hi John, just a passing thought. Since the seats may have been made by more than one provider, there is a possibility that the spring arrangement is not unique. good luck, KGM |

Thanks for that KG ,it all adds interest to the situation !! John |
