MG MG Y Type - YB brake pedal shaft

Has anyone replaced the chassis bushes for the brake shaft on a YB? I am contemplating doimg this but don't see how to do this with the body fitted. There is limited access to get any kind of tool in there. In particular I can be helped if I knew how long the bush or bushes are in the chassis leg and which end, inner our outer it is best to approach this job from.

Have a look at the pedal box data sheet, not sure if it will help you, but take a look if not already seen by you.

I have done that Paul, but there is no indication of how to actually remove the bush or bushes. It would appear that there are two but it is unclear as to whether they are butted up together to form one long bearing surface, in which case it would be difficult to remove them independently, or whether there are simply two short bushes, one at either end. One thing I have read, it may be this one, suggests pulling them into the inner box but, like a Haynes manual, gives no real indication as to how to do this when the space available is so restricted. A further problem is the availability of the bushes as none of the usual suppliers seem to offer them (in spite of one of them having them in their catalogue without them actually being available). An indication of their size would help me to decide whether it is worth making other arrangements such as sourcing a close fit from somewhere like Simply Bearings and making them fit. I see a long frustrating job if I go down that route.

Thanks for the credit Ian but it was Richard LOL!

As to the sizes, if they are not available from NTG/Moss (TD are probably but not definitely the same) have you called NTG to ask when they would be available and if long lead time what the dimensions are?

Another option open to you is to ask the same question on the TD/TF board maybe?

Conversely, these are currently available from Moss Motors here in the USA - https://mossmotors.com/bushing-set-in-frame-2-bushings?assoc=70575

Sorry Richard. Thanks Paul i have been in touch with NTG but they don't have them in spite of having them in their online catalogue. They are different from the TD/TF ones and Moss don't list Y type parts. MGOCC don't have them either. I was hoping to hear from someone who had done the job before treading an unknown path on a cold garage floor (if you see what I mean).

Totally with you there Ian. I gave up cold floors a long time ago and invested in a 2 post lift.

Didnt know the TD bushes were different so thank you for that. Did NTG give you any ideas about dimensions?
