MG MG Y Type - YB lighting switch
During a dashboard renovation i find i have a broken lighting switch and would like to ask if anyone knows where i could get another. it is a lucas item number lucas ppg 1, although it could be ppc1 as it is indistinct. I have looked on the usual auction site but can only find items for other cars which, although having the same number, are slightly different, the main difference being that they have square or hexagonal shafts instead of a round one. NTG don't seem to stock them. can anyone help me with this?

Have you spoken to NTG I bought one from them. I seem to remember it was an adaption from a morris minor switch. Y Type ones are no longer made as far as I know. |

Thanks Peter. I have bought one from fleabay and hope it does the trick as it's a later one from some other car. I will make it fit. Ian |

Hi Ian, where is the switch broken? you can take the switch to pieces and repair, i have done several, John y0362 |

thanks for the offer John but the body is snapped right through as you could see in the attached photo if it wasn't too large for the system. This would also have shown my very crude attempt to repair it (which amazingly worked). I just feel that I need to fix it properly now. I have a later version of the switch but am having trouble cleaning it as the arrangements for fixing the innards are rather more permanent. I will change the casing if I can get it apart. Can I take it that the original is taken apart by first removing the solder blob on the end of the shaft under the paxolin cover?
