MG MG Y Type - YT horn/Hooter
Can anyone please tell me the exact mounting-position of the YT horn and also, what the mounting bracket looks like? |

Hi Anton It depends on what kind of YT you have. EX(U)s had twin windtone horns mounted on the firewall one on either side. Most though would have had a Lucas Altette horn positioned on a horseshoe bracket that bolted with a single bolt and split washer to the front cross member where you will find a threaded hole. Both the mounts and the horns are fairly common in that they are shared with the MG TC although the TC had the horn and bracket attached to the front of the car. For the Y Type though this was considered too brash and garish for the sophistocated Saloon and Tourer market, so they were hidden under the front valence. If you need more information please check back with me. PAul |

Paul I do not own the US version YT, so a drawing of the the horse shoe type bracket would be helful. Anton |

Hi Anton It is easier than that - Brown and Gammons sell the horn bracket seperately from the horn (Moss-Europe do not appear to do so). Go to http://www.ukmgparts.com/product.aspx?CID=7d8ab9ff-038a-4d47-a19c-29a7103bb23b&SID=fe36fd0f-f08e-43e5-8730-27f09a5e9e8f&PID=23bd4814-6173-449a-86bd-f0d04d27fca2 Part no: 27H5157 Price: 6.50 + 1.14 VAT = £7.64 (each) plus shipping & VAT where applicable. Anton I have just seen http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260711591698&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AGB%3A1123 This may need to be modified by making a single hole between the other two on the flange as the Y/YT cross-member only has one bolt but otherwise will work for you. Happy Christmas Paul |

Thank you Paul I looked up e-bay and realised, that i have one of these - somewhere. The chassis on my YT had another one fitted (apparently a makeshift one that got me fooled. Have a nice day Anton |
