MG MG Y Type - YT purchase?
All, This is my first post on this site. I've been offered the opportunity to purchase a 49 YT (see photo). I've owned MGA's for 40+ years and have a couple MGB's but the YT is new for me so I'm trying to learn about it. The car seems very complete but hasn't be run in over 15 years. The owner was slowly "restoring" the car but passed away (at 84) and the wife wants to sell it. Negotiations are beginning in the $16K - $17K range. Does this seem reasonable/fair? Not trying to cheat this lady. Cheers, Gerry |

Hi GT Sounds fair to me from looking at the photos so I would say YES. If you want to contact me off-line and we can have a more thorough chat that would be fine and I will give you my full contact details. Paul |

Paul, I appreciate your offer, but, I'm deciding against buying the car. Several reasons. I currently have 3 "project" cars in process. But mainly, after reading some driving impressions on the really great MG-Y website I think this may not be the car for me. Oh, it's a neat little car and my wife really liked it, but I do a lot of longer distance traveling with my cars and I don't think this would fit in with that. Thanks again. Gerry PS: I think you will soon see it on e-bay. |

Hi GT If it is a long distance tourer you are after you probably are correct in not going for this, but glad you enjoyed driving it any way. Regards Paul |
