MG MG Y Type - YT Side Screen Storage

I've just spent a fortune having all the weather equipment for my YT re-built and was wondering if anybody could tell me the correct method of storing the sidescreens behind the back seat.

I'm sure there's got to be a special way of fitting them together such that:
1) They actually fit behind the seat
2) Damage to windows, frame paint etc is kept to a minimum

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Saul.

P.S. Nice to bump into you yesterday Paul.

Saul,

Not really a YT solution but have you studied the way the YT forerunner, the VA had ? It also stored the sidescreens behind the backseat. To prvent damaging they special a special "sidescreenbag" with every VA tourer.

Have a look at the way, the MG TD's side screens are stowed. Refere to the original Workshop Manual - maybe this offers a solution.
Since my YT's body has been stripped down for some time now, I never had a chance to try it myself.

I had the trimmer make me a bag for the sidescreens and then discovered that the only way they will fit is if you fold the front screen signalling flaps 180 degrees so that they rest against the outside of the clear panel. That way it will all fit in the slot behind the seat.
Slight problem- the material is too new and won't fold all the way around to fit in- so the screens either 1. go in the bag and in the slot as they come off the car, but the cover over the folded roof cannot be fitted or
2. put the whole bag in on the boot floor and stick the other supplies etc on top - my method.
Not ideal but I like to run without the roof, and with either the half tonneau or the small cover fitted.
It's all about having fun , have fun getting the bag in the boot! Its a right bugger of a job, but it can happen.

Saul, I traced the drawing & description of the VA sidescreen bag which fits behind the rear seat. Let me know if you want a copy.

Thank you Richard

Would be of interest to see the VA drawing. So, if Saul, Bas or any other knowledgeable person is reading this thread, please let's have the VA's drawing & description.
