MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - A bunch of MG enthusiasts and a day’s fun

There’s a bunch of MG enthusiasts gathering at Kemble airfield on September 18th for a track day, organised by Ed Moore of Motorsport Events. There’ll be quite a few newbies, so anyone should feel safe to join in the fun.

So far, there are 3 MGFs, 3 ZS180s, 1 ZT190, 1 ZR105 and 1 MG Montego, plus a couple of Elises, a TR6 and a few MX5s to help make up the numbers, which are limited to 40 cars max.

It’s only £79 for the day. You can hire a helmet for a tenner and get 30 mins instruction for £25 if that takes your fancy.

Come and join in – booking form at http://www.motorsport-events.co.uk/booking_form.htm

Look forward to seeing you there

I think I'll pass if it's all the same. Sounds cr*p.

Is that because you're still wearing shorts and aren't old enough to drive yet?

This sounds interesting, particularly as I wasn't able to do the MGOC track day.

I've checked the website, but what is Kemble like to drive? Does it compare to, say, Anglesey?

Mike,

I've not driven Kemble or Anglesey - just Castle Combe, Donington, Bedford Autodrome and Bruntingthorpe. Kemble's an airfield of course, so I don't expect the interest of say Donington with Craner Curves! But, hey this is £79 for the day.

The reason I'm promoting it here is because it has been put on specifically for a group of MG enthusiasts - see the list of MGs I originally mentioned. There should be 5 or 6 MGFs from this BBS, so it's going to be good company in between the track time.

Come and join us.

Yeah, probably will do, in the old BGT. Just need to get her wheels back down on the ground again. Been giving me a bit of grief this year she has.

Mike,

Great - look forward to seeing you there. Good luck with getting the BGT sorted.

Ill give it a go in my GTV8. Just sent off the cheque.
Did anyone here do the MGOC bedford autodrome day?

Cheers

Oh No! Just found out today that i can get the time off after all, AND the cars running really well. Is that it, no chance of a run at all?

Yours worriedly

Might be worth your phoning up and asking Mike

Mark - i did MGOC track day

First time out with MG on track and enjoyed it muchly!!! I think (hope) that the BGT was the only stock B there as there were a lot of cars quicker than my times ;-> i was fighting with a warped tyre for the later part of the day which upset the car on fast left handers (thats my excuse).

A good selection of cars turned up though, splatterd nicely between some old 'uns and new 'uns. A few race tuned ones turned up also and i had the delight of watching some guy spanner one of them into the only bit of armco on the whole circuit right in front of me!!

Serious note, they weren't hurt and took it in their stride. As the car was fully race prepared it looked easily fixable - obviously it was 2 minutes before lunch that this happened, so watch yourselves.

Definitely looking for more track day excursions based on this experience. I used to work for a time as a marshall at B-A and the west circuit which was used for the track day is one of the better circuits available there. If you went for a corporate day using their cars, this track has the formula palmer audis on it, which are the closest thing most people will get to a formula 1, so its well designed and i felt quite suitable for the BGT!! Facilities are also good.

I'll keep my eye out for more similar days, but can't make this one - would be interested to get views on the day afterwards! I'll keep my eye on the thread.

Wa-Hey! I'm in! See you all Wednesday...

Mike.
Michael Watkins

Well done Mike,

I can't believe my own luck either, but I'm afraid it's bad luck. My car has just rolled off a flatbed onto my drive after an HGF this evening, just a day before the track day. :-((

So, it looks like the best I can hope for is to be a passenger again, as I had the same dissapointment only the other month just before the Kernahan's track day at Castle Combe. That time I had to pull out because of a suspected HGF, although after missing the event, a chemical test proved negative and a coolant weep was found on the water pump. I thought I had escaped and was really looking forward to Wednesday.

Anyway, glad you got in Mike. There's another space now if anyone wants it.

Maybe see you there.

Dave you must be gutted - have a go in our Trophy!
