MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Any XPower ZT news?
Hi Guys, Does anyone know if there's any news and pictures for the ZT XPower cars? Richard. |

Several members of another Xpower forum went on a factory visit in March and saw teeh ZT 260 in build on the line. A few people have reported seeing cars out on the road (exhausts on both sides of the car) and some lucky forum members on the Xpower forum got to test drive one last week, apparently the smiles are permanently affixed! They say the rear drive and power increase transforms the ZT into a mean sports saloon! Fuel consumption reported to be a reasonable 24mpg. Not sure on launch dates as yet, but the cars exist and are being built. HTH Martin |

...and?? They've been building/developing the bloody things for ages now!! Can't see 24MPG as being attainable - the ZT190 isn't far off that as it is. |

What I should have said was production ready cars were seen on the assembly lines at Longbridge last month. Production ready cars are being shipped to dealers. Production ready being the 260hp Ford V8 unit in the ZT. These are not test mules or one-off specials for the press. However, MG R do seem to have a problem on their hands, which to launch first? The SV or the ZT260? The ZT360/385 or whatever they settle on is still some way from launch, I believe, cooling being an issue to resolve. As to 24mpg, the body is not heavy, and it is very aerodynamic and since I can attain 34mpg in my ZT 160 with a steady throttle, 24mpg should be attainable in normal driving but then again, these cars will no doubt be driven hard so I doubt 24mpg myself, was just quoting what I had read. However, two years since the announcement of the cars is not bad, considering how long it took Ford to produce the Focus ST. Remember they created the Zed range of the three models in a very short time, and it wasn't just a body kit and badge as some detractors would have us believe. |

Last week trip to Devon and back computer had the following info, average speed 70.4 mph :-) , Distance 568 miles, fuel consumption 30.1 mpg Route 10 B road Mersea-A12, A12, M25, M4, M5, 2m B rd,M5, M4, A12, 10 miles B road A12 - Mersea so 24 mpg is not out of this world. |

24mpg is what we were told! Awesome machine! SV WILL be first though! |

24MPG is what they'll tell you.......but in reality you'd probably never achieve that, as I've said! |

24mpg is for normal driving ERIC - doh! Anyone knows that a V8 well driven or any other performance car will be in single figures! |
