MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Anybody for a tasty boot rack?

Have a laugh at this!

Any takers?
Eric

Looks a bit pointless.
JLD

Silly to spoil those lovely lines with that silly bit of kit.

That rack was originally available as a Rover 75 option. It does unfortunately ruin the boot by drilling holes so is pernmanent.
On the ZT, this just ruins the aerodynamics of the lip spoiler, and would be impossible to fit on the ZT with the bigger spoiler.

However, I could envision a Rover 75 V8 in White with black vinyl roof, with mud flaps, and one of these racks holding a a full sixe spare wheel in leather cover ala the Rover 3500S V8!

One can but dream!

Surely any boot rack on an MG is like a hairy wart on the the face of a beautiful women!

an attractive feature then

Been there! But it was required if you wanted to go touring as the boot was so bloody small - I think my *F* has a larger boot:-) BUT what a car! that engine was just superb but steering was a tad on the heavy side (no PAS) it had to go as the wife complained her arms were getting too big.

This was the continental touring kit, available as an optional extra on all P6 models. The attachment is reversible so that just a Rover badge is shown in the centre of the boot if the spare isn't fitted.

I have to agree, this boot rack is ridiculous - £55.35 just so that you can carry one more case.

(I own two Rover 3500S, neither of which is fitted with the kit).

....Glad you all agree - what a waste of money and not to mention a great way to spoil a car!
Eric

the boot rack isnt even needed. why not put ya extra gear on the passenger seat & strap ya wife to the roof :o) as a bonus, u cant hear them whinge from the roof either

Bootracks like that one were popular on many US cars not that long ago, presumably because they looked "European." I doubt they were really intended to be used as such, they were merely decorative.

'Course this was during the same era when manufacturers were sticking fake vinyl-padded "convertible" tops onto big four-door sedans and badging them "Roadster." It was an ugly time...
