I am of belief that you have stolen this rubbish that you try to sell. You do not have such things. You have made these things up. Go from this site you donkey lover man who many times also has adult relation with other beast such as pig and many time goats. You will take the mare in the same manner that you take the stallion. These things you are enjoying I think.

When stupid person with money come to buy theses thing from you I belive you will mug this man and steal his clothes then you will rape this man in the same manner that greek and turkey man like to do. Go from this site you dog and peddle your wares to the other man. We do being hating of you .
Yoram Shevach

From that, I assume that Yoram is not interested in the gearbox then?
JLD

I think that's the tenor of his argument yeah!

F, JLD, What you hiding over here for.

I'm really glad we don't have people like Yoram in our "home" board. It would seem the moderators over here (If they exist) are no where near as vigilant.
Tony

For the good or the bad, there aren't any moderators on this board Tony.
Rob Bell

It shows doesn't it!
Mike

Tony,

You miss the point about this BBS. It is designed a used by those with robust personalities who are not afraid of strong and contrary views.

I appreciate that many, like perhaps yourself, are of a more delicate nature and can only feel secure in a board where someone adopts the nanny roll to protect you from people who do not agree with you or who make fatuous posts.

If you need that environment, you have my sympathy.

Cheers

Patrick

PS I notice that Digger was on the other board whinging about the poor service on his F but came onto this board to seek advise. I think that speaks volumes about the two boards!

Patrick Beet

Patrick

Aren’t you being a little harsh on these chaps with delicate sensibilities? After all it is this Government that has created the 'Nanny State' in which people like Tony and Mike expect to be cuddled and cosseted, unless of course they are being mugged or shot. You can’t remove the expectations that nanny will be there for you, especially when participating in a dangerous pastime like posting on a non moderated board.

These people need a moderator to protect them from reading posts that might offend and someone to tell them which dealer to use for service and a ‘car doctor’ to correct their misconceptions and tell them definitively which windstop to buy.

It is not enough that this board has a program that attempts to disguise the dreadful, disgusting word with asterisks, because they are just about bright enough to be able to read it anyway. The whole post must be stopped before it pollutes and nanny must give the offender a smack.

However, on one of their ‘home boards’ nanny doesn’t have a great deal to do. In the F/TF section there was only one post all day yesterday, which may be the reason for them offending their sensibilities over here.

Cheers

Mike

I am with you 100% Michael. I think the people you like the other boards would prefer a pub with no customers as this would reduce the risk of them of seeing or hearing anything unpleasant - like LIFE!

Ship them out to Zim or Afghanistan so they can appreciate what unpleasantness really is!

Cheers

I think that you will find that those who frequent other boards also post quite often on this one. My first posts on here were only pre-dated by posts on the MGOC board. As for the role of moderators. Seem to spend more time moving posts to the most appropriate forum than 'editing peoples posts'.

Also just check where Diggers got his advice from and where he posted the outcome.
JLD

Old Patrick makes me chuckle. Here he is having a dig at x-power when you can always see his name as online browsing the x-power forums ;)
Its a bit like "sun" readers ,everyone denies it but Patrick just can't help having a look :)

Hippocrites!

Well, well. I stray over here and see that I'm being held up as a "shining" example of something or other in an all-out comedy handbag war.

Now just for the record: I posted my question on BOTH this BBS and the X-Power site. I posted a general whinge about the service on the X-Power site because (a) I know more of the people on there personally so this sort of "banter" seemed more appropriate and (b) There is a general MG chat forum over there, which seemed a more appropriate place for a general "whinge" (one man's whinge being another man's perfectly valid criticism! ;-))

As it happens I got suggestions for solutions on both boards, though more technical advice on this bbs. In the event, the garage used an approach which hadn't been suggested at all on the web, so I guess we can all be surprised from time to time.

I posted the outcome on BOTH this bbs and the x-power board too.

As the Grolsch man might say: "Schtop, schtop, what are you doing? There is room for more than one MG bbs you know!"

ER no. What gets my goat is the constant flow of dripping posts from people from the censored sites (usually anonymous) saying how much they dislike the posts over here and how nice and safe it is on their censored patch. They usually add they are never coming back.

Don't these limp wristed fellows see how rediculous they look and how irritating are their posts. If you can't take the heat just stay out of the kitchen.

I do visit the X-power site as clealry acknowledged in my posts. While I spotted Diggers post on the general chit chat, I did miss his post on the F board as this did seem as lively as a party in the Marie Celeste's crew's quarters when I last visited it!

What most of you were too dim witted to notice was that Yoram's post was just a mild rebuke to advertising on this site;)
George B.

I bet that the Penguin is REALLY GLAD HE ASKED! Ever since Yoram, you guys have certainly 'frozen' him out...
David Beckham

Personally, I always have a laugh when I read one of Yoram's posts. Someone should be collecting them into a book. "The unexpurgated wisdom of Yoram Shevach." Would be Booker shortlisted I'm sure!

I hope he IS a real person. There are too few eccentrics around these days!

I wonder if he's still got his old Merc which smells of dogs, because he transports his Alsatians in the back of it?

Diggers

Lets get one thing straight, I don't need nor want to be "nannyed". I could F and Blind, and trade insults with the best of you. But I'm sure thats not what this board was created for.l

My implied point was that the post by Yoram at the top of this thread was completely unconstructive, insulting, and just not neccessary. Those of you that didn't "get my drift" have obviously been over exposed to such useless crap, and cannot hold a discussion without it degenerating into a slanging match.

A moderators job isn't to get rid of posts they either disagree with, or that give a negative opinion. It's to make sure a thread stays reasonably on topic, and posts don't get personally insulting, which would probably mean almost every post on this thread should have been moved or deleted.

Now, lets see if anyone can respond without outright flaming.
Tony

Tony,

The moderator's role is that of censor - he can and does decide what is fit for the rest of us to read!

I am very old and (I like to think) reasonably bright. I want to decide whether someone else is writing nonsense and dismiss it as irrelevant, blasphemous, libellous or merely childish. I would far rather read a load of rubbish than miss one challenging idea that someone else decided I should not read. If there is too much nonsense then perhaps the board will die. It has not happened despite some terrible attacks. It is prospering!

I love the diversity and sheer energy on this boards. Give me more and allow me to make adult choices.

The moderated boards are, by contrast, terminally bland with everyone falling over themselves to agree with each other and lavish praise on the various senior ranks of censor (Super moderator indeed - how can people be so sadly pompous and insecure as to as to want a rank for censoring a BBS?)

There are too many people who want to control your life and far more who welcome other taking control of them!

Your choice is to fly with the eagles or peck sh*t with the chickens! Not a difficult decision surely?

Cheers

I think you have been reading too many conspiracy theory books if you think zelous moderators sit around waiting to delete posts.
What really gets your goat is that you havn't been asked to moderate ;)
Cecil
Cecil Cousins

On a moderated board, the original post would have been deleted; therfore there would have been no thread to which any of us could have responded, eh?
George B.

I think Penguin has gone cold on the whol deal ...
David Beckham

<<On a moderated board the original post would have been deleted>>.

Really, I thought it would have just been moved to the 'for sale' forum.
JLD

I can confirm that the post would not have been deleted. In fact the contrary after seeing the post I added a link to the site and mentioned the site on the board. :)

Individuals can judge. :-) We only moderate very ocassionally and then its usually SPAM.
Jerry Flint

My 2p worth...
there are certain indviduals that watch the MG BBS/Lotus BBS in particular, regular users too can/will report obvious spam, slanderous remarks and other nasty postings to the the webmaster of this site
See the link that says 'report abuse'

The original post was fine, in fact it's by a advertiser from the Lotus BBS. I would not have has asked for his posting to be removed, but some of the drivel that followed it, most certainly!!

Kelvin
Kelvin

The supporters of the censored sites are still telling me it is good for you and Jerry saying he doesn’t do it a lot. They seem to join in the debate with some vigour and enjoyment without (I presume) appreciating that this could not happen within the dictatorship they call home!

Cecil Cousins has however tumbled on the awful truth! My deepest desire in all the world is to be able to boast to my mates that I am a moderator. Most are sufficiently well educated to think that I was proclaiming that I had taken holy orders with the Methodists but some, with anoraks, might realize I had become an internet censor. Unfortunately I suspect the total lack of acne on my face means that I can never hope to achieve this high office.

One has to learn to accept stoically life’s harsh judgments!
