MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Direct Line insurance ZS180
Does anyone insure there ZS180 with direct line and if so what security did they require. I tried to insure my 2002 model with them as they gave the cheapest quote yet they said I had to have a tracker fitted. My much much richer mate insures his 2 year old lotus esprit with them and all they wanted was a cat1. When I asked why I was told you can get details of how to bypass the security of the internet, which in there eyes meant it was useless. PS any suggestions of where a 23 year old could get insured fully comp for under 1000, no points, full ncd |

Firstly, forget the incompetant Direct Line, they are also horrifically expensive. Much info, along with cheaper trackerless alternatives, is here.... http://www.xpower-mg.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1708 |

Yes, lots of stories flying about on this one. Steve (MG -Rover. org) looked into this with DR Dave. The upshot was that there MAY be away around the early system (A number of BRM 200 have been lifted) but the ZR/ZS is safe. But the rumours remain, i can't find any more info on the subject, which is a good thing! Mega. |

Gary, there are lots of small but well established insurance companys detailed in the back of motoring mags i.e Fast car, Fast Ford etc.etc. who specialise in performance insurance. I have had company insurance for the last 5 years and therefore a bit behind with it all, but in my days of "pumping" I used these companies all the time and found them to be substantialy cheaper than the high street companies. |

unfortunatly having rung 20 companies with an average premium of 2000-3000 I am going to have to fit a tracker and go with direct line at 900 |

I have renewed my full comp policy with direct line yesterday, I have clarion sat nav and LPG conversion they said tracker is a waist of time and it cost 609 with full no claims bonus, but i just reversed into a parked car!!!!!! (about 10mins ago) so i expect it will rise soon!!!!! regards david |

Thought I'd throw my 10p worth in on this one. Just had my renewal through for a ZS 180 5dr. 339.94 from NIG through "Lifesure" at St Neots , Cambridge. Thats with full NCB (protected) @ 39 yrs old in a "high risk" occupation. Car is standard but kept in the garage when at home. Regards Mark |

My two cheapest ZS120 quotes were tesco and quotelinedirect.co.uk and these two were very similar. Tesco's asked for a tracker (they are the same insurance company as direct line, so I'm told), so I went with the other one. |

Hello all, Just got a ZS180 out of the wrapper on Tuesday. I was insured with direct line before but they were just silly! I phoned around everywhere through the yellow pages and ended up going to Elephant.co.uk and getting a quote there. I am 33 yrs, full no claims, car in residential parking. Fully comp. with protected no claims with my wife as a named driver: - 344 per year. 100,000 of legal is included, courtesy car, and a complete replacement if written off in the first year. Cheers all |

I have just renewed the insurance for my ZS+120 with Direct Line with no problems. I am 35, full NCB(Insured), legal cover included, 386 pa. No tracker was mentioned, it may be that it only applies to new policies only? Anyway I am happy for another year at least.. |

My sons insurance on his ZR is coming and he is currently insured through DirectLine and they said that a tracker must be fitted before they will insure him again, 550 + annual subscription. I had the security by pass verified by a Rover garage at the weekend. They didn't go into details but it's something that Rover need to ammend otherwise sales are going to fall if people can't insure them. |

Hi, I have a TF160, and me and my partner are just about to buy a ZR160. We have had a few stupid quotes too. Tesco do insist on a tracker, Norwich Union quoted 614 for my partner and me as a named driver. But,, tried Elephant.co.uk, and the quote is 421, including legal expenses,so thats what we're going for. Am sure some insurance companies are getting commission from the tracker manufactures!!
