MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - How Ford have got it WRONG BIG TIME!
Every Ford owner i come across says the same bloody thing. "Type R mate?, Wait till the RS 220 comes!" The RS 220 is the Focus witha 220 Turbo motor, and a few other fast bits tacked on. I would go into much greater detail but i won't. You see its a ghost, I have it from a few sources that the small number of 2,000 or so won't happen. Why because Ford would loss money on everyone! Every now and again the FORD bulsh*t sorry PR manchine "wheel" out the car and tell us how MG, Honda, Vauxhall etc will have the sh*t kicked out of them by this beast. Than they give a "Launch date", and try to get the car mags to post a picture of it next to the ST170. They WANT to sell the ST170! They can't sell the ST 170 Why? Because dear friends we live in a world of fast cars. Want a" balls out" hot rod of a Hatch? Get an TYPE "R". Want a car of chacter get a MG ZS. Ford have fubbled the ball big time. They have no fast engine unlike Honda, MG, Vauxhall. In short they have a car with NO market. Its painfully slow. It takes 9 seconds, yes 9! to get to 60. Can't get 130 MPH Poor old Ford, they F*cked up big time! |

Don't think they've got it wrong with the Cossie though! |

That's my point Jerry! Ford where once, THE surplier of fast cheap speed. They listened to "Fag Labour", and when fashion switched back to speed they didn't have a fast power plant to use! I "here" that the RS might see the day of light, but only in "Hens teeth" numbers. Mega |

Jerry WROTE: >>> Don't think they've got it wrong with the Cossie though! <<<< Quite right in fact - FOMOCO dragging their heels once again though and not entirely original thought. ARG had already been there done that with the Montego Turbo sometime before. The Cosworths were Ford's variation on the same theme. JMcF |

... and for the benefit of super-Lotus-enthusiast MEGA in the unlikely event of him being unaware or the fact ....... ARG turbo technology .... developed by the Norfolk outfit! |

Yes John i was! I test drove a MG metro Turbo, but found it offered nothing more in perfomance over my "Atmo" A series. Ford and most other people don't have a power plant to match Honda's type "R". Only VAG 1.8 Turbo can get into the same party! Mega |

DOH!! It depends what you mean exactly by MATCH. I don't claim to know anything like the petrolhead figures you guy's can quote, but boy I know BS when I hear it ! Ford WILL sell all it's ST cars whether they be puma, Focus, KA or Mundano. They provide more of a compromising mix of what more people in the real world want. They may not necessarily cheap to buy, but they are perceived as cheap to run, easy to repair and reliable. I run an ST200 estate. One of only around 250 they made. In total they built 1,000 ST200's and they all went. The 2.5 V6 Duratec engine is superb. Immediately before this one I had an Accord Type R, before that an Integra Type R and before that an EX16 and a series 2 Prelude. The Type R engines are also superb, but in a completely different way. I defy anyone to tell me that my ST200 estate isn't quick, with a great chassis. It ain't a lot of yards behind an 850 R and THAT'S a stonker... Cheers Kieren |

WOT HAVE FORD & HONDA TYPE R GOT TO DO WITH AN MG BULLETIN BOARD !! ANYONE WOULD THINK, IF THESE COMPANIES WERE SO MUCH MORE SUPERIOR ,THEN THEY MIGHT EVEN HAVE THE SAVVY TO BUILD THERE OWN BULLETIN BOARDS. |
