MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Import an MG ZT?

I've seen a MG ZT through MicroNet for £17397. Has anybody dealt with this company or ever imported a ZT?
Clive Leach

Cant help with requested info but worth considering that there's a new (delivery mileage) registered Red MG-ZT190 in my local showroom for around £18K. Big alloys and all! Maybe similar offers elsewhere with dealers. Possibly a better alternative than the import route which can prove very iffy and negate any worthwhile savings.

I endorse Johns comments. It might LOOK cheaper, but it can be useful to have a friendly dealer on your side if yoe experience any problems.

Also, discounts ARE available, abd if you kn ow somebody who is in the employers discount scheme even better!

Good Look with your search!

10% discount on the MGZT and MGZTT for MGCC & MGOC club members if you order & register before the end of December. See latest Safety Fast or Enjoying MG club magazine for details.
My local Rover dealer has MGZT's for £16995 with a massive sticker on the side of the car saying "list price £19995, our price £16,995". Not sure which model this is - presumably not the top spec one. Evans Halshaw, Reading is the dealer.

Went to a local dealer. Appalling salesman who attempted to close me every 5 minutes. I was told that there are only 8 190 + cars at the factory. None have the options pack/colour I would like. With the mgoc discount it works out at £19003.50. However if I have one built to the options package/colour I require then obviously the mgoc discount does not apply as the car must be registered by December 31st to qualify. The offer may be a bit of a swiz unless you're lucky enough to find the right car for you. I think I'll either go for an import with 3 year warranty or I might try and find a demonstrator with the right package/price.
Clive Leach

dont forget to check out the warranty on the imports as uk cars now have 3 years as standard, and the insurance could be more as an import

Clive, Sale,

Considering the range of permutations available for the exact spec that you or anyone seeks, maybe your spec does not even exist yet until you place that order. Those worthwhile savings like the one I mentioned previously are for existing unsold cars in the showroom now. Your "exact spec" order problem would exist with any marque unless you are very lucky. Even so, good luck you never know unless you try. From this buyers viewpoint, a three grand plus discount on a car not exactly to my ideal spec is an enormously persuasive sales tool .... all car manufacturers know this of course that's why they cater for the impatient "I want one now" types about ... and it works ... :)

After Christmas and into the new year, dont be surprised if those various discounts are not so widely available.
John McFeely

Yes If thing are going as badly for MGR as i have heard on the "GRAPVINE" (Halewood source) than expect some VERY big Discounts!
Mega

The strange chap from Liverpool hasn't seen the latest sales figures. They speak for themselves. Well Done MGR!

Depends on who is couting.
We will see:)

Whilst on the subject of sales figures and registrations, anyone here with Ford contacts know the meaning of "Frog Island Cars" ........
John McFeely

People in Halewood know F-all about cars anyway - they tried to build Triumph's didn't they ?
David

I'm going to buy a ZT190+ it's just a question of from where. And for the likes of MEGAr*e in Liverpool what can one expect from a mere scouser? I think the ZT will complement my F very nicely.
Clive Leach

What is a "GRAPVINE"? Is that where you get GRAPS for making WIN?

If you guys have any luck with MG-rover, how about inquiring as to wheter or not these new cars are coming overseas to Canada and the U.S... They would definately sell here, and i know i want me one of them. Thus far, i have failed to find any adequate contact info to get my question answered. So if anyone decided to spread the word out there that we want the new cars over here.. maybe it would work out.
David Ryzuk

"Frog Island Cars" ........ Place near the works in dagenham that Ford sells all demo, company, press, one offs, and mild unpranged new cars etc - dealers only of course, saw a Cossie 500 with minor damage, 27miles on the clock go for 5k a few years ago.
