MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Is this the shortest ownership of a ZR?

My son totalled his MGZR last Friday, partly his fault. It had 1148 miles on it, is this a record?

Sorry to hear that, but I doubt the mileage is a record!

Just hope he is OK? Where did he buy it - Kernahans?

My son damaged his new car last week (SAXO), 97 miles and £1200 later - cannot claim because of insurance woes!

Might be a record for a ZR, but heard about a woman and a brand new porsche which got written off when she was involved in an accident pulling out from the dealership.

Hope your son's ok. Is he getting another ZR to replace it? - One way to increase MG's sales figures I suppose ;) [Not meaning to be disrespectful with that joke]

Back in the 60s I was working as a car delivery driver during the winters - two of us went to Oxford to pick up two Minis we pulled out of the very muddy parking field and round the corner came a bloody great site lorry, slid on the mud and wallopped my mates car - complete write off total speedo still just under 3 miles!

We were told that this sort of thing was not uncommon.

JFK sorry to hear about your son, but do you know if the ZR is a write-off, If it is could you e-mail me the possible breakers it will be off too. I'm after some bits off it.
David Harasym

Yes, it was bought from Kernhans. He's okay, just his pride is dented unlike the car which is written off. A small crease in the roof confirms, besides everything rear ward up to the "A" post is mangled. The doors open though, so the crumple zone did it's job. He got a letter from Kernhans yesterday thanking him for buying an MG!!!!!!

David forgive me for being nosey, but why would you need or want parts off a written off ZR?. They have not or never will be imported to the USA.

maybe he wants that screaming honda engine?
David Ryzuk

Screaming Honda engine? Methinks not.
David Lacey

Unless you witnessed Mike Hailwood's Honda-6 Grand Prix Motor Cycle in action, then you've never heard a screaming Honda engine! None of your namby-pamby cans in those "real men" days! I stood immediately behind this machine in the pits when it was being warmed up prior to the race and had to quickly move away because the high screaming rev pulses vibrated my flesh at a different frequency to my bones. So much so that for a moment until I moved away I thought they would seperate! Eeerie!

That KV6 motor particularly in the ZS180 is a delight to my ears. A sensational "full fat" and exciting quality sound. Experience and enjoy .... and like the rest of the K series family, NO Honda content I believe ... :)

John McFeely

Had a LADA a couple of years ago :)wrote it off in 3 weeks. No one hurt and came across the photos the other day. As long as no one was hurt, that's the main thing!
JJ

Ohh I didn't see that it said I was in the US, Is there a Derbyshire in the USA??

I want soem of the interior dash trim bits, went to dealer and they want to charge a fotune for the bits.

JFK - Kernhans is that a breakers, do you have a number or area where they are????
David Harasym

Kernhans sounds like the supplying dealer to me.
The engine is the ZR is most definatly not a Honda one.
It's better and it'a four pot K-series british designed and made.

Long live MGRover
