MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - just got my zr105

Well piucked my new zr105 up yesterday and what a bloody brilliant drive it is.
Went down for a 200 mile trip and it performed like a dcream..

Kept her under 4000 revs but puylled really well for a 1400!!

Previouse car was a 416sli and this engine (although not as torquey) is an absolute blinder.
Cant wiat to rev her to the limit.
shes begging for it..

Only criticism is the interior finish aint finished too well but hey who cares the car handles like a bloodu roller skate and well worth the 9995 I paid for it, with free insurance..

Dont be afraid get a test drive they are the business...

I got my ZR+120 just over 2 weeks ago and like you I've tried to be gentle too. But I'm finding it harder and harder not to just floor it and see which county I end up in!

Couple of criticisms I have.

(1) Convinced sun-roof does not close properly from tilt but has to be slid a little and then closed.
(2) 5th and reverse do not provide positive feedback unlike other gear choices.
(3) Couple of occasional creaks of dashboard at certain times.
(4) Trophy Blue is a colour which demands to be kept clean!

Happy motoring and welcome to the club.

well Findlay at least you've got a sunroof, wish it came as standard on the 160 instead of aircon :-(
if trophy blue demands to be kept clean then could you please give mine a quick wash as i don't have time :0) last washed 3 weeks ago 600miles

Thanks guys, gave her a wash today (bloomin salty roads) also a chance to check for any imperfections, and happy to report found nothing at all.The exterior build quality is superb.
One gripe about the interior tho.,
The black plastic surrounding the clock is about 1cmm out of position? Does this simply pull off to move the clock or is it glued to the dash?
Any advice appreciated, otherwise Ill have it back to the dealers.
Cheers

rob...As I tend to drive with windows and sunroof open a lot, I find a/c an inconvenience on the whole. Occasionally it's handy in the mornings to quickly demist the windscreen but other than that I never used it on my 306.

Car coming up to 3 weeks old on Wednesday, already clocked up just short of 1,000 miles and been washed twice, such is my love of keeping her clean and shiny!

Sounds great m8 :D

I myself don't currently own an MG, but i have my eye on the ZR105 ;):D - I'm only 18, so insurance-wise, it's the best option.

I was wondering if you could tell me, eshy, what are the pros and cons of the model that you have - i gather from the price it's the basic version. Do you think it's worth upgrading any of the standard options, or should i just pay for the normal off-the-shelf one?

e-mail me at my hotmail address, as I would love to discuss it, as you have no idea how much i lust after this car LOL

I have had my ZR120+ for 4 months now and love it to bits. It just demands to being driven, and enthusiastically with it!

Only real problem is that I am stonechipping the front end really easily and envisage a respray next Summer.

I went for Solar Red, mainly because I hadn't seen any of the metallic colurs in the flesh when I made my order, but heck the greens, blues and blacks look fantastic!

I have a similar problem with the stone chips on the front. Does anyone know how these can be cleaned up (without a respray), excuse my ignorance!!

Once happened Kev I'm not sure there is an alternative.

I do frequently see 'film' advertised in performance car mags which claim to protect your paintwork. Bit like cling film, you apply to those areas most at risk.

Don't know how it looks when in place nor how effective it is.
Findlay

My car is picking up stone chips on th front quite quickly. I have resorted to colouring in the chips with one of my son's wax crayons which nearly matches the colour of the car. Touch up paint which is available tends to be difficult to use even with a steady hand and fine brush and can leave an even bigger mark.
nigel

i've tried the folia paint protection film before and while its on its ok, when it peels off it takes the chipped paint off with it as the film doesnt stop the chips it just keeps the paint in place.

for small scratches and chips instead of having a bodyshop respray the panel try
sprintfinish 07071 880720 enquiries@sprintfinish.co.uk
they can also masage dents out without using filler, the garage i worked at used them all the time and they do a good job. Head office in Halifax but they are mobile and come out to you.
