MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Mega sells a ZT190!

Well here's something you hear everyday!

I thought that you would like to hear the true story of how Mega sold an MG ZT190. I was coming home tonight about to turn off for my street when my mate Brian flagged me down. I have known Brain for about twenty years or so, nice chap, nice wife. Some would say a little boring but only because of his choice of car. Brain is a Vauxhall man! every other year he gets a new Vauxhall, his last was Omega or as he put it on my Goder!

It was time to change his car just before Christmas and I dropped in to deliver some strut braces I had made for his sons car. I got talking about MG, I told the truth as I see it about the ZS/ZR but I also told all about the ZT and gave him the MG catalogue and a load of car magazines on the subject.

Today is new car day and behold what now graces his driveway? A new Silver ZT 190!

His wife joined us on the driveway and thanked me for my "help". "If it had not been for you mike we would have gone for a BMW this time".

MGR you owe Mega one!
And who ever runs this web site, cut me some slack, jack!
Mega

well done (I assume you tell us all because you need praising, like a small boy) but it does not give you a god-given right to annoy so many readers. If you continue in a civilised and positive way you will be welcome, but If you go back to your previous ways of constant slagging off then I would not be surprised if you end up suffering the consequences again.

Still anonymous "Mike" AKA mega WROTE:

>A new Silver ZT 190! His wife joined us on the driveway and thanked me for my "help". "If it had not been for you mike we would have gone for a BMW this time".<

If your story is true, then you certainly have my admiration. All this at the expense of yet another BMW sale to a Brit ...... even more admirable.

is the zt a manual or auto? i didn't realise mg brought out an auto version untill i saw one in my local garage last week - silver, 18" alloys, yellow leather and auto

Well done, Mega.
Perhaps there is a lesson for all of us here in promoting MG-R amongst our peers!
Keep up the good work. Pleased to note no BMiniW's in the 'pool on a recent visit...is that you as well?!!
Dave

Consider this: Mega is really a Marketing Manager for MGR. He just likes to stir up people's sense of awareness. I'll write more when I return from my substance abuse session (LOL)

Thanks everybody, I must admit that no one is more surprised than my self! Brian's son's Vauxhall Nova project is what done it.

They decided to put the 2 litre 150 bhp motor from the Astra GSI. Torque steer was the order of the day and they asked if I could fabercate/manchine something up for them.

No problem, 2 strut braces made from Stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The rear brace was made in two parts so it could be removed quickly if he had to carry something bulky in the back.

One night after they had been fitted, Brian took me for a spin and things where a lot better. We got talking about Vauxhall and all the trouble he had with the Oh-my-God (Omega). I had the MG launch material in the car plus a copy of Autocar……….and there I left it.

I must admit the ZT looks great, sitting there besplendid in its colour and 18 inch wheels. I will keep everyone up to speed on how things go.

I don't gloat about bad news but I do believe in facing problems and talking about them. MGR is having trouble moving the metal (ZS/ZR). Look at the very large amount of advertisements that have appeared over the last week or so in the national press. Very expensive, if MGR is going to launch an Ultimate ZS/ZR I would say sooner rather than later.

Now-ish infact.
Regards.
Mega.

p.s I wonder which BMW dealership got "Megaed"? Ha HA HA
Mega

Yes Dave
The MINI is not a "Pool" car. I have seen only three to date. Lets be honest here, its "Time" is pasing quickly.

Yes i know the "S" is out in the summer but the dealerships are trying to lift everyones leg over trade in prices.

I give the MINI 3-5 years tops, than it will be gone!.
Mega

At least be consistant and pull it

The MINI was touted big time at the NY auto show in April 01. I have only seen one on the roads here in the NY area. I am somewhat surprised to hear about electrical problems. Come on, with all the computer science and a 40+ year old base design, I wonder what happened between the drafting board and the assembly line. Where are these being made anyway??

Cheers,

Gary, the B*W MINI isn't a 40-year-old base design (well, if you don't count the Austin XC9001 prototype as the basis for the styling) and the 'computer science' was dumped upon the car by B*W trying to be clever! It is a pretty crap styling exercise with poor packaging and what appears to be built-in problems. I had a look at one of the MINI sites and the list of faults with these cars is horrendous, taking the site as the tip of the iceberg so to speak. B*W even had the cheek to claim the cars pull to the left because of the camber of the roads in the UK!
Yorkie

The BMiniW is beind built at the former Rover plant in Cowley, Oxford. Until spare capacity becomes availiable elsewhere.....
