MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - MG Trophy
anyone been watching the MG Trophy on Men&Motors? The ZR's, representing front wheel drive, seem to be outgunning the TF's! I'm surprised at that, and it was even more noticeable at Silverstone. |

Gary Yes, I enjoyed the programmes. Also the RAC Revival on Motors TV (I think) with David Winstanley in the ZR and featuring Anthony Reid and Fiona Leggate as guest drivers in ZRs. Quite a few Metros and 25s in the rally as well. |

The TF v ZR battle was made a little more 'even' by the introduction of the rolling start last season (2004). Previously, on the start line, the TF just sat down and took off, where as the ZR just lifted and spun its wheels. You then spent the rest of the race palying 'catch up'. The ZR is a little lighter than the TF. But otherwise, the performance between to 2 is remarkably similar. DC |

David Thanks for the clarification from the hot seat - I was watching at Oulton in 03 and noticed that the TFs were heading the pack so I was surprised, like Gary, to see the ZR doing so well, and a friend watching with me also queried this. Gary, I think they actually mentioned on the prog that Silverstone favoured the ZR over the TF. Martin |

in the case of Rear Wheel vs. Front Wheel drive, then rear wheel is an advantage from standing, but front wheel drive leads the rest of the time!! and where were the ZS's? and just what is it about Silverstone that favours the ZR? |
