MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - MG ZS 120+

I am seriously going to buy a ZS - decided to wait to see about residuals but they look ok.

However I have yet to see a picture of the back of the 5 Door model with the spoiler - can anyone help!?? Its like they dont exist!

I think you will find the residuals are a bit dissapointing Rob. But if you want residuals buy a BMW or VW. It's not a bad choice, just wished there was a four pot 2 litre ZS 140, to fill the gap between the 120 and 180.

A 2-litre car would be a good idea, not too sure how much more capacity the K-series engine has, i think it's already at it's max bore size.
The T-series would have been ideal, loads of torque and quite revvy for a long-stroke motor.

Surely MGR could put the 2-litre KV6 engine into the ZS to fill that gap? It's got 148bhp @ 6500 in the Rover 75 and 45, but it's a bit light on pulling power (133lb ft @ 4000RPM) so would have to be revved alot. Just for the record, the T-series had 136bhp and 136lb ft at 2500rpm! Better still, put the Turbo version in and you'll have yourself a very fast car! mmmm 197bhp and 177lb ft @ 2000!rpm. The wider power band on this engine would make it an easier car to drive every day. They need to bring out a new 2.0 4 cylinder engine that they can Turbo and make it a Focus RS beater! (when it comes out)

Ah yes; Higher Residuals ....... just motor trade speak bullsh*t for making mug UK punters pay more for their motoring ...... and they form a queue to do so .... or some company finances the purchase then cops a discount rarely achieved by the private punter.

How many are born every minute ???? ..... :-(

It's a BMW so expect a higher residual Sir. Yes 200,000 is rather high mileage Sir but they are motorway miles so it's only just run in ........ So, where do I sign ...... :o)))

We had lots of comments on the 120 in a thread which I initiated in September (see archives).
The new owners were very pleased with their purchases.I myself am close to a decision although I now find that by the time one has added in all the desirable extras(aircon, fog lights etc),the ZS 120 price is not all that far short of a discounted ZS 180.It then boils down to running costs (fuel, insurance, servicing) -and to residual values as you mentioned.
