MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - MG ZT V8s in two months....

Popped into my local MG-R dealership today and had a word with one of the sales staff. They've a ZT V8 on order as a demonstrator and expect it in two months time ...... more waiting but hey, time flies when you're enjoying your self .... ;)

2 months from launch to delivery??????

Thought it would have been available almost right away?
Eric

The 385 prototype was at Totally MG yesterday, got a guided tour of the car, inside and under the bonnet too (which is completely jam packed full of V8 and blower). It sounds awesome too - very impressed indeed.

Bring it on. :-)

Eric - what color is the sky in your world?

Introductions are ALWAYS timed well in advance of public sale. Primes the pump.

Look at the intros at Frankfurt and march down to your local dealer and ask when any of them will be out - in right hand drive.

BTW - where was MG at Frankfurt?

(And don't forget that it was only two years ago that a ZT was parked on MG-R's Frankfurt stand with a new grille and showy paint job purporting to have a V8 under the hood, erm, bonnet. Changing the complete underbody, suspension while transforming a transverse FWD platform to V8-powered RWD in only 24 or so months is pretty much world class in the world of product development - where skies are always "blue".)

Well said John Z!

MG-R despite limited resources have demonstrated the ability to hit the road up and running in pretty quick time with new, facelifted or extensively redeveloped models. When I see these postings here and on other sites by impatient contributors I'm left wondering if those same folks are ready to buy one RIGHT NOW if they were already in the showrooms ...... doubt it.

MG-R are wise to delay or withhold release of any new model until they are entirely happy with it. To jump the gun as has happened in the past and with other manufacturers could be asking for big trouble. How our UK motoring media would love to have some of that to incessantly winge about. Even so, even the best resourced and top motor manufacturers have sometimes released models too soon with predictable results.

Better get a decent project soon I feel a terrible burning pain in my wallet coming on ...in about 2 months time!

A V8 ZT-T - that would suit me nicely - not sure that the Bank Manager or the Missus would say to the idea!

GEORGE

What the devil was that?

I also wonder about the color of the sky in Los Angeles.

GEORGE - if you've stumbled onto the web this far, maybe you could post on one of the T series boards, perhaps even the "A", or better yet, the "parts for sale" pick off the home page.

The topic HERE is MG-Rover's brand new Ford Mustang powered 4.6L sedan, the MG ZT 260. Brand new, 21st cetury stuff. Doubt the old tripod Lucas's would fit. Sorry.

Now, where were we?

Sorry, you are right, there are bound to be more than one this far into the development.

The one at Totally MG had X-Power 500 on the charge cooler, according to Roger P this is the same car, but de-tuned to 385 bhp and has been one of the main testing mules for the new one next year. It certainly looked like it had seen a lot of spirited driving, the front valence was cracked, the bonnet release pull handle was broken and there was gaffer tape holding one of the inner wheel arch liners in place. It had a carbon fibre bonnet and a Vortech supercharger (serial number V-2 20347 D-213-17) and sounded well awesome. Also, it was painted a rather nice deep green, but the carpets inside were blue - an indication of a previous colour scheme maybe? The black and white leather (new front seats!) also looked superb.
