MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Monogram Program
Does any one no when the monogram program, announced yesterday will begin to be available? After reading various websites news stories it reads as if it is an immediate start, Therefore asked dealer today and they didn't know what the hell I was talking about! I then rang MGR and was told it would be rolling out over the coming months, but I should ring back tomorrow for more info. |

Steel? Who gives a rat's ass about steel? Is this the "International Trade Policy Enthusiasts BBS"? No, it's the MG Enthusiasts' BBS. Is that a difficult concept for the little spec of fly crap between your ears to comprehend? Damn, there I go again, asking obvious questions... -R |

Oh...Right you don't want to talk about a looming trade war! you MAY wish to talk about it if you end up out of a job!. Please remember Ricky that the 1930's slump was caused by one, and remember how many lost their jobs. If this happened i wonder how many MGs would get shipped to the US? Try thinking Ricky Mega. |

HI Pro Hows your wife, i hope she is ok after the crash. Mega. |
Mega |
Who wants to talk about trade wars and stuff like that on, incase you missed it MG ENTHUSIASTS BB Mega? Have you nothing worth posting on this BB, conceivably not! Perhaps I'm looking on the wrong site! |

No Mega, I don't want to talk about a looming trade war here, as this isn't the appriate forum. Can you grasp that concept? This is the MG Enthusiasts' BBS. As in a forum for MG enthusiasts to discuss MGs. Simple, right? Are you an MG enthusiast? No. Are you discussing MGs? No. Is your discussion therefore appropriate to this forum? No. Simple. And in case you're wondering, I'm certainly not losing any sleep over the notion of losing my job due to a trade war. And besides, if there is a trade war, that won't effect the number of MGs shipped to the US, which continues to be (as it has been for two decades) zero. Why don't YOU try thinking? -R |
Ricardo Dodge |
The above should read "appropriate forum", not "appriate forum". Let my spelling get away from me there... -R |

Mega, Please do as I ask and F.O.A.D. and afterwards go haunt another BBS. The wife as I told you before is fine. What do you expect she was in a Rover. How's your girlfriend Mega?like all your others, still charging you for sex? |

The Monogram scheme is very exciting. The car I plan to buy will certainly benefit from this exciting innovation! I know Kernahan know all about it and if your dealer doesn't politely tell them they ought to and you are moving your business. Jerry an MGR customer - 3 times last year! |

Mega You should take up fishing if you get a bite like this everytime :o) |

WHAT IS THE MONOGRAM PROGRAM? JUST THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE INTERESTING IN THIS THREAD! |

The Monogram program is a way to let buyers order a whole slew of non-standard things, special paints, special seat colors/materials, dashboard colors, DVD players, etc. Allows a car buyer to give the car a greater degree of individuality. Porsche has operated a more expansive version of this for a while, essentially you can tell Porsche what you want, and they'll do it. Tell them you want a solid gold shift knob, and the boys in Stuttgart will make you a solid gold shift knob. Anyhow, that's Porsche. From what I understand about it, MG-R's program isn't as open-ended as that, but it does give the buyer a decent amount of flexibility beyond the usual limited options, color choices, etc. -Ricardo |

MGR seem to have gone from one extreme (few colours) to the other, so much so that I am confused about all the different paint systems as well as the colours. Can a relatively small manufacturer afford the cost of all this diversity ?? Certainly not much needed in continental Europe where ANY MG is distinctive as there are so few of them!! |

Still no one at my local dealer (Dutton Forshaw Maidstone, Kent) has any knowledge of the monogram program, perhaps they are now to preoccupied selling Skodas, than to take interest in MGR products. Any one have any further info? |

To whom do we report the above abuse. YAK YAK YAK - grow up the lot of you!! Now, what is the "monogram program" and who sponsers it etc., etc, etc. Thank you from a '79 MG owner and enthusiast. Cheers, Gary |

Reviewed the "Monogram Program" and find the description of the paint process very interesting. Would like to know what skills would it take to match the color scheme in the event of a collision repair. Again, Jerry thanx for the email Cheers Gary |

>> Would like to know what skills would it take to match the color scheme in the event of a collision repair << That is the only thing that concerns me. I'm sure the insurance companies won't miss a trick and they'll increase the premium if you have one of these paints : Steve. |

Having seen a number of the new Monogram colours I can say they are stunning, both visually and in extra cost. The top two will add around 2500 pounds to the cost of your car with others falling into various bands underneath that. What is probably less well known is that you can order an MG in one of the specific Rover colours if you wish. I say a very attractive Copperleaf ZS going down the line. The colour flexibility simply reflects the flexibility of the paint plant. Most of the time it is only the material change that is needed, hence the only real cost implication is that relating to materials and with some costing 500 pounds per litre!!! A point to note is that these various colours are going to seriously affect any repair costings and so expect insurers to load cars with special finishes accordingly. Rog |

On speaking with my friendly MGR sales rep today whilst awaiting their woeful service department to put me back on the road, I was told the Monogram programme is scheduled for a May/June/July release. Details were scarce other than "it offers different colours and different trim". Well, there's a thing! |
