MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Msg for MG Rover, ASA solution

Why not have the next advert showing the cars bombing round a track?
They surely couldn't complain about that.
Gareth

Someone will complain about anything though, that's Joe Public for you. :(

Steve.

They would then complain that it was 'war-mongering' to bomb anywhere and this would set a bad example to the rest of the world!

And as that is exactly what we shall be doing in a months time I can just see the headlines:-

'Xenophobic Brits bomb Nürburg - aided by MG Rover'

Just to clarify the press stories today. The complaints and criticism are not related to the press and TV advertising for the Z-cars. What they refer to was the direct mail campaign and inserts in newspapers and magazines last month.

As stated above:
They both featured pictures of three MG cars and were accompanied either by "Can your head take the rush?" or "Can your nerves bear the buzz?" or "Can your heart stand the thrill?"

Unfortunately for some people the answer was No, No and No. If thats the impact of the leaflets I guess these people had better not book a test drive.....

The ASA verdict was in fact over a week ago but I am sure MGR will not be too unhappy at the extra publicity for the MGZ cars in a top UK news story.

Incidentally in a UK TV ad its not possible to drive a car at more than 30mph, so its quite difficult to demonstrate the boy-racer appeal of a car.

Not so on 'Top Gear', or at least it was until today's announcement that the programme has been axed. As the audiences are the highest ever my suspicion is that the reason is 'political correctness'
John Dalton

Not surprised that TG has been axed I liked Tiff and the girl BVH, but the others were poor.
The programme seemed recently to have same format every week, just different cars.
The car programme on channel 4 is better.
I was thinking of writing to the BBC and telling them this. no need too now.
Joe

As the greatest living Irishman, Terry Wogan, often says on his show, there are people out there who do nothing all day, but sit by their radios and TV's just waiting to be offended......
Dave

Terry Wogan, now there's a name from the distant past. Did not know he was still around.....:o))

However, someone really famous who's name escapes me once said, "There's no such thing as bad publicity". In this particular MG-Rover instance, I think this will prove to be quite true.

Wozzat about "Top Gear" being axed? Or was that simply one edition? Just begining to watch the programme regularly again.

I think it was the well known cross dressing bi make up wearing singer ... Terry Woga.. umm no it was Bowie in 1976(ish) when asked if he was gay.
