MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - New MG Zeds at main Ford Dealership.
Picking up my favourite Montego Turbo with its new 12 months MoT certificate this morning, I had to drive by the main Ford Dealership in Bristol Road, Gloucester. Along the front of their main display area were three MG Zed saloons and a TF. All looked superb in the winter sunshine. Very low mileage Trophy Blue ZT, Le Mans Green ZS120+ and Silver TF. The ZR 160 was an unregistered new 'import' in silver. Enquired at the sales office and got some info on all the cars, particularly the ZS120+. Appears this dealership has an 'arrangement' with an MG-R dealership in a city 30 miles away. Nothing new in that mind, back in the 1960s in London's East End, I worked in a Chrysler(Rootes Group) dealership selling Hillman Hunters, Sunbeam Alpines and the like. When a regular customer wanted a Mini, Jaguar or a Ford say, we could always get one for them and we provided Rootes cars when other Dealers wanted them for their customers ..... BTW, they had sold 150 cars so far this month (Jan).... one of the best Januarys ever apparently. Other dealerships also report strong new sales ... Also, media reports sales of new or nearly new cars are strong lately. Used sales proportionately down ..... people dont want older cars now and with credit (and resulting individiual debt climbing) so easy to obtain now ..... Happy MotorinG |

John, having worked at a Rootes dealers in the 60's I don't suppose you've got the odd Sunbeam Tiger tucked away anywhere that you need to find a home for, hopefully cheaply? |

Adrian, Ahhh, yes the old Sunbeam Tiger: An Alpine with V8 attitude! No such luck ..... love to have one now .... :o) |

A Z at a Drof dealer?? Better proposition than the dross they usually have to sell. Should count themselves lucky they have that tie-up. |

Drove past this same Ford site this afternoon. A gloriously sunny one here with a slight mild wind. The Trophy Blue ZT was not there and there was a space where it stood. Visually it was the best looker in a fine colourful MG line up so it looks like it maybe sold. |

so it looks like it maybe sold. Or borrowed by the Sales Manager for the weekend! |
