MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - On board diagnostics

Hi guys, anyone experimented with ODB?

I have found the socket on my TF and am planning on trying out an interface from Gendan in Swansea

They have a set up that works with MG.

OBD sockets look like this

Has anyone got access Rover specific ODB codes?
I've got ~ 900 generic ones that apply all manufacturers.

have a look at obd2.com i have their obd2 pc tool and cable, i can read from both the zs 180 and ztt190 not sure if they have any rover codes but all the normal ones are there

All OBD codes are the same, that's the whole point in it.

As I said, there are over 900 standard ones, however, as I understand it, these can be supplemented by manufacturer specific codes.

I am only guessing that they may be Rover specific ones in addition to the generic ones.

John's right - there are definitely Rover specific codes. I've seen them on a website somewhere. I'll surf around when I get a moment...

John - I don't think there are any Rover-only ones.

I feel you may well be right Eric.

The only rover/mg specific issue raised so far is lack of pin 5 ground which gendan say they have resolved.

I have recharged the battery on a 12 year old laptop and await delivery of interface, cable etc. I will report findings asap.

It will come with digimoto software but other s/w is available eg http://www.scantool.net/software/index.htm#download
