MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Reliability ....Hows yours ?

I am looking to purchase a ZT T 190+ with the harmon kardon upgrade and hi line sat nav.

firstly i have not heard the Harmon Kardon but as an upgrade i would hope its better than standard kit ,which seems ok anyhow.

I am likely to do 30k per year ,anyone with a high milage car had any real issues because the warrenty only being up to 60k is a slight worry for me.


also anyone out there tow with a 190... i need to tow a trailer at 400kgs and a 500kgs car . any issues .

MG S&R use the ZTT190s as towcars to race events so presumably no probs. Ian McDougall-Bell is one I know of.

PS on towing weights - I've towed a 375kg trailer with an 1100kg load behind the ZS180; probably marginal on legality but absolutely no problem from a performance aspect, either on cruise speed, steep hills or braking stability. HTH

We had a test drive of the MG ZT last weekend, and I must admit I was very impressed (I was somewhat biased as I was not too impressed with the build quality of my old MGF, so wasn't expecting much). The V6 also made some lovely noises, and we *may* even managed sideways around a roundabout ;o)

Primarily it'll be a workhorse, and a tow barge for the Westie, but it might be entertaining to track it at least once too :o)

I have an 02 ZTT 190+ with about 47000 miles on the clock, everything is still nice and its fantastic to drive.

As for towing I have a 180+ (Auto) it tows my caravan without a problem, maybe not as well as the Disco's I used to have, but much more quieter & comfortable.

We tow our caravan with the ZT190 - (1200kgs). Tows with no problems, only problems can be traction pulling away (especially on gravel/grass), but with the more modern models having traction control (?), this isn't so much of an issue any more.

We've towed about 8-10k miles with the ZT so far, no problems towing yet! (in fact, the only problem with it at all is just that b****y bonnet sensor)

Get the detachable towbar though, some of the other aftermarket models really ruin the lines at the back of the car... :)
