MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Saw my first Z-car on the local roads today

A Blue ZS180 today on my way to work this morning - nice choice.

I'd have thought I'd have seen more on the local roads by now. Are the folks in Glos a bit slow off the mark or are these Z-cars still in short supply? The Red ZT still does not have a sold ticket on it in my local showroom.

Any sightings feedback from other regions yet?

Certainly no sign of the bloody flag badges in the dealers yet....

Hrmph!
David Bainbridge

Ah, David where you after some badges? I might be able to get some :)

drop me an email if you want....

Steve.

My son and I too would like to get the crossed-flag badges - will email for more info please.

Does anyone want the part No?
Ian cresswell

I've got those flags on my car, on the side, à la Trophy.
No problem to order them. Just told the dealer : "I want two of these, please !"
The only problem was I forgot I had them on order (!) and picked them up at the dealer 3 weeks after they arrived. So I hadn't the chance to show them to the Treffen'ers ;))
They look very nice, but are expensive at around £10 each.
Still, £20 isn't bankruptcy ;))
Fabrice

anyone got any piccys of the badges on their cars?

Steve.
Steve

Steve,

I've got a couple of rear badge shots of a blue ZS180. If you're interested, Email me and I'll try to arrange a copy for you. These badges are a nice touch and the sort of thing Joe Punter may like too when considering his next car....

Not quite what you asked for but this is the badge on the front of Lola. I've seen Steve's under the repeaters and I want them :-)

My dealer says they are not yet available to order as part though :-(

I spoke to my local Mg Rover specialist (lost franchise in BM era) and he can get the badges no problem. Also ordered a ZS120+ whilst i was in there this morning ! In Anthracite mmmm

We saw our first Z cars on the roads on Saturday. Yellow ZS 180 on the M40 near High Wycombe and a red ZT flashed by on the A44 between Broadway and Morton in Marsh. We waved from our white MGA, but perhaps the passing was too swift.
dan

I ordered my badges 8 weeks ago, and there is still no delivery date for them.

Back to the original thread- only seen a couple of Z cars since their release- but over the last week have seen literally 20+ new Minis... they are everywhere in the south of England. Good news for the guys in Oxford.

So what is happening with the new MGs? I've seen more new R25s than I have Zs... :o/

Rob

PS Back off thread... Steve- any luck with the badges mate? :o)
Rob Bell

I saw a very pale Ice blue ZT 190 the other morning on the A414. Very disappointed. Had no presence at all, even when looking at the front. Only the grille and lights would even make you think about liiking twice.
But then I saw a trophy blue ZT on the M6 and THAT got everyone's attention! As did the Yellow ZS180 in Findon last Sunday...

Cheers

Kieren

ps not seen any ZR's yet though - apart rfom Donnington, where I also saw a Chromaflare ZT190 sitting outside the MG hospitality tent !!!

I saw a MGZS 180 this morning in Guildford, Trophy Blue was its colour. The strange thing about it was the registration plate it had. I only took a glimpse and it looked like MG 51 BAZ anyone know the owner as I didnt think the MG were being released... maybe it was an MC (no not the DJ announcer type) with a screw cunningly placed!

Be interested if anyone knows if the MG has or is being released imminent

Just my,

PS I know M(x) is Merseyside and Manchester, just dont know sub types!

Hasn't Roger Parker got 'MG 51 MAD'?
Rob Bell

Ian, please can you let me know the part no. for the badges.

Cheers

Yes I have MG51 MAD and it was a simple purchase from select registrations. If you visit the website and use the search engine then you can join me with MG02 MAD for 699ukp. (March 2002 registrations are now on sale.) If you have a name like rod, rog, baz etc, then add at least 300 to the price. MG02 MGF is I think over 3 grand.

The union/chequered flag badge is part number

Sorry to disapoint lads, but I've been seeing the MG saloons for some time now, about a month or so before launch I saw a parade and have been seeing them since for some time along with the 75 tourer.

The latest sighting is an MG version of the 75 estate seen last week.

I spied the replacement for the 25/45 on test disguised heavily, a white car with lots of black cladding on it, with various Rover bits of trim being followed by support vechile (a 75) in Henley in Arden in late August.

The new mini (spit spit now it's a BMW) was being driven from M42 jct 2 down M40 every morning for about 3 months before launch ( a black one).

It seams that Rover and BMW are in the practice of giving prototype cars to employees to commute to work in and living just round the corner from Longbridge I see lots of them.

In my old occupation nights around the West Midlands Motorway system was a car spotting journalists heaven!!

There are some well known routes and times to sit on them!!

Since I started this thread I've seen a few more Zeds locally. Surprise was a silver ZT-T near my mothers place - it was there again tonight. Also, a blue ZR being driven as a nippy MG should on my way to work this week.

My local dealership has a few more in stock now so it looks as though more will be about soon.

Delighted to hear sales of MG-R cars up 40%. Keep up the good work MG-R ..... ;o))

Like your new reg no. Roger ... :o)) Not bad value at todays prices!! Under the old arrangement, MAD was/is a Gloucestershire registration and my next door neighbours Montego Si had a MAD reg a few years ago. In fact there were many MAD cars about the place back then as well as BAD, CAD, FAD and all the others. I even had a "SAD" car.... :0))

Seen loads of new MG Zs around here (Portsmouth/southampton area) as I've said on other thread, maybe because there's 3/4+ MG dealerships in the area, only seen 1 MINI, and that was a WKD Promo-car outside a nightclub, maybe there's a lot in London -(Rob Bell) but been all over the south of England and haven't seen any more... maybe I missed them because theyre so nondescript, maybe they're only a lot in London because they look like a "tart's" car...!!! (waiting for flak from everyone whos wife has one)
Will Moreton

I was collected yesterday morning by my collegue in his brand spanky new 5 door trophy blue ZS 180. We had a smashing drive down to Brands Hatch (in the pouring rain). We passed 3 yellow ZR's and another 4 door ZS. Upon arrival at Brands, the car park was absolutely littered with Z's of all types and colours...all except the ZT-T. I still haven't seen one in the flesh.
3 of the days highlights were, seeing the MGF Extreme in the flesh (oh Boy I want one of those!), Warren Hughes on Pole for the feature race, and to top it off watching the sprint race. I don't think I've been so nervous since my wife gave birth !! Watching the 2 Astra's on wets, stonking around after poor Anthony Reid on slicks, the drain and lowness of him being caught, then the exhilaration of the red flag and MG getting their first win. Brilliant.

Cheers

Kieren
ps Chris (my collegue) not happy at seeing every other ZS car with the Union/Chequered flag on the boot, while his has none.
Kieren

My son got his ZR on saturday, in yellow with sills, 17" alloys and with an up graded Kenwood system in it. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet, he's been out in it all the time, clocking up 300 miles already. Just need to get the miss'sus an MG now. At Kernahans in Witney they have loads of Z's in stock. ex demonstrators etc mainly in blue.
JFK

Not seen many T's at all, onlt a couple and the T tourer mentioned above (does this car offically exist?)

Any one know how they got a V8 (presumable the old favorite 4+ litre Rover V8?) in to the 75 body with rear wheel drive as launched or displayed at Frankfurt?

I cannot see a problem with the engine but how the hell did they get the gear box, prop, diff etc. in?

I think the Range Rover tuning boys have got the Rover lump up to the low 5.x litres with bags of add on tuning gizmos so the potential for theis car is amazing if it uses the Rover unit, far too much power for a 75 slaoon?
