MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Thoughts on ZT-T 135 CDTi

My old company car is about to go and I am looking around for a replacement. The ZT-T 135 looks good on paper, low CO2 :-) and it's an MG :-), but what is it like to live with?

I would appreciate comments from anyone in-the-know, thanks.
Nobby

Most owners that I know from various forums seem happy enough with the ZT-T 135. It can be chipped up to 160bhp, but typically runs around 40mpg, though. Same handling etc as the petrol models, just a different driving experience. i think the torque is higher than the ZT-T 190 V6.
Try looking on a few other MG forums if you are not getting much response here.

Been trying to organise a test drive of one of these cars as well!

So far I've driven a Rover with the same engine, and first impressions were extremely positive. But you'd never forget that the car was a diesel because of the noise (not loud or annoying, but there nonetheless).

Could be a cracking choice!

But I still need to drive both the 190 and the 135CDTi to see whether I could sacrifice the refined good manners of the petrol for the turbo-charged efficiency of the diesel...

Have had New ZT-T 135+ CDTi for 4 weeks now really pleased with fuel consumption have achieved 600 Miles on a tankful (double my 318i Tourer ).But build quality not so clever. Im self employed so the regular trips to very helpful local dealer are not always welcome.
By the 2 nd day of ownership Power steering failure (hoses in wrong place and damaged by a pulley!) and turbo fault.
Currently experiancing very embarrasing screech when depresing clutch and digital OBC unreadable after about 1 hr in car so now due for another 2 days in the garage!
Great car to drive and good acceleration at 50MPH upwards. I think its the best lookin estate on the road and has very good road presence everybody admires it. You just need to hope you get one that has been assembled properly.

Lay the blame for any engine problems at B*W - they build the engine! ;-)

Had mine now since Feb this year, done 7k miles and am seriously pleased with performance, fuel consumption, load carrying capacity and most other things.

Niggles have been 5 revisits to dealer to fix groaning clutch, 1 for a new bonnet release, 1 for cruise control problem and 1 for brakes lights that came on and stayed on. (last 2 probs associated with work done by the dealer to fix the clutch)

Overall pleased as its my car (not company) but a little concerned that the build Q may be iffy. But what else comes close when you refuse point blank to drive German or Japanese.

Thanks guys.

Time to book a test drive and hopefully I'll have more luck than Rob.
