MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Throttle Body Group Buy - ZT260
Neil Don't know if you hang around on the X-Power forum but there is a ZT260 throttle body group buy being organised http://www.xpower-mg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17870 |
Adrian |
But what about warranty?? |
Eric |
We have 7 for our group buy so we can go ahead (minimum needed was 6). This is the second one we have organised in as many weeks last one XPower exhausts {20% discount}. Warranty is a factor - but something I can risk on a lazy V8. BTW, most folks have stipulated they want an induction (filter kit) as well. NB: Yet more rumours on the ZT400 are appearing..........mmmhhh. |
JF |
Nice Idea 3 probs though. 1. Warranty 2. Insurance 3. WIFE!!!! She has absolutley forbidden any additional expenditure on the ZT!!!!....and yet... Also you lose that nice horsey thing on the engine! but you are quiet right fixing the right areas on this car...the tuning ladder seems to go. Throttle body Heads Supercharger |
Neil |
How's Janet going to find out Neil? I won't tell if you don't... ;o) Who needs a horsey on the plenum anyway? |
Rob Bell |
Not even I can smuggle 330 quid out without the Gestapo knowing and Yeah I like the horsey bit of Yank heavy metal cred shame it doesnt help performance doing this and the heads would probably deliver the magic 300bhp though even with std cams ...so says very reliable source ( Rog Parker!) |
Neil |
IIRC, follow a trawl of the tuning sites offered by Google, I came across an e-book seller. In that was a book on how to port a V8 carb (most of the books were US and therefore V8 based)... A cheaper performance option perhaps? |
Rob Bell |
Sell the old barge and buy a proper performance car might be a better option ;) |
Eric |
Yeah, Eric, like an SV, right! |
Martin ZT |
I was up at Croft this weekend racing the old MGB and saw Dradnought MG's silver ZT, complete with supercharger and other engine work. Chappie said it was producing near 400bhp. It sounded utterly magnificent. Tony |
T Crossley |
yeah like what exactly Eric?...get a life mate! these are really rather good. Rob There is a bloke called Sean HyLand who does tuning stuff. I have his brochure ( darkside again) I have already talked with Rog parker about these things... the best way to more welly is the Vortech supercharger they guarantee it wont detonate the engine which doesnt need any specific mods and will deliver 50% more oomph... so that's ~400bhp! mind you, he does a direct replacement 500bhp engine 600 if you could get the 4v head engine in The drivetrain will take 700! How much is enough? |
Neil |
>>How much is enough?<< Probably just short of Scotty calling you from the engine room to inform you of the impending fracture of the dilithium crystals Neil... |
Rob Bell |
I cannie hold it cap'n, she's gonna blow... |
Adrian |
They don't make them like they used to Adrian ;o) LOL |
Rob Bell |
Well I am the guy wearing the red shirt again ...and you know what that means! Yeah Starship performance ...and it's all doable...as SF said ...the darkside is strong with this one (ZT260) |
Neil |
Red shirt? Oh shi'ite - just don't get beamed down to the surface... |
Rob Bell |
Yeah ...In one weeks time I expect the good news from the Client...."he's dead Jim!" or worse "He worse than dead Jim, they've taken his brain!!" |
Neil |
"He worse than dead Jim, they've taken his brain!!" See Dr McCoy. I'll give you a tablet, and you'll grow a new one ;o) Supercharger for the ZT sounds lovely - but I agree - is definitely one for when the warranty expires... Darn it - the 3 year warranty are like golden handcuffs... :o( |
Rob Bell |
Yeah they are handcuffs I know the ZTis a seriously reliable motor but why risk it the warranty is free... unless Xpower offers them of course and then they are covered by the warranty!! COME ON X Power!! |
Neil |
You really shouldn't hold your breath or get your hopes up, they have much more pressing things to worry about! |
