MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - What is the ZR 1.4. like?

Just wondering if anyone has driven the ZR with the 1.4. litre engine?? What is it like to drive?

I want a 3 door in trophy yellow with all the options (ABS, Air-con, plus trim, Monaco seats, etc..). That'll give the guy with the yellow Fiat Punto Sporting over the road some competition!!

Any ideas as to insurance costs?

LOL ..... nice one John. Bet it will soon look like daffodils in springtime down your street with all that yellow about.

I like yellow. The colour is the promising herald of spring. Daffodils, Forsythia, Primroses and Brimstone butterflies ... all signs of a winter long gone. My all time favourite most beautiful car of ALL time (worth repeating ... :o)) I ever saw was a showroom new pale primrose MGB tourer with chrome wires and thin white walled tyres. Saw a tidy similar car very recently which reminded me of that superb motoring vision....

Come to think of it, ARG-Rover during the past twenty years up until the recent MG-R formation, offered remarkably subdued colour options for most of their ranges. MG-R thankfully have changed all that with their vibrant Trophy yellow, red and blues - all they need do now is offer a "proper" BRITISH racing green. None of yer namby pamby metallics - good solid stuff perlease.

Having said all that, if or should I say when I get a ZS, it'll probably be a blue one although I've not seen a yellow one yet, only blue and silver ..... and as I said ... I like yellow.

have a look at my son Martin's web page:

or for the actual picture try:

copy and paste should do the trick.

They have a yellow ZS180 in the Showroom at Mantles in Letchworth. My gut reaction was EEuuwwwwgghhhhh!!! (Or something like that). However, after wandering around the car and chatting, and sitting in it, then admiring it from every conceivable angle, I have to say, it's grown on me in a way I never thought such a loud "Wa hayy Girls, look at me" kind of colour would.
Probably get one in yellow now...

Cheers

I have driven a base ZR, but with 5 doors. What a hoot!!!

The sort of car that you can drive at 11/10ths because the dynamic aspects of the car are as good as the bigger versions, but there is not enough power to cause any embarrasment.

In fact the test drive (part of the press launch) showed that this car easily puts an evil grin on your face as you hold a good speed with Jonny Rep in his Mundano or Vectra examining the exhaust gas content. Then when you come to a bend you turn the wheel and go round and see a wallowing repmobile rapidly dropping back behind. Just the sort of experience you have with your first aquaintance with a real Mini.

With just 103PS the car is not fast, but unlike the first Mini's it's not painfully slow either. It makes a really sensible A to B car which will be able to post some very positive average speeds, simply because it has none of the squirt and stop of so many more powerful cars on starights and bends.

As a package it offers super value for money and also excellent fun for the money.

PS the only downside was stuck in 30 degree Cardiff stop start traffic as we had come out of an air conned ZS180!!
