MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - Xenon Bulbs

Has anyone fitted Xenon gas filled replacement Bulbs to a ZS. I was looking at the new Osram Silverstar but at £50 to replace main and dip I would like an independant appraisal befor shelling out.

Hi Kevin, I bought a full set of 100W bulbs off of ebay, they are the Blue tint with a luminosity of 7800??
They do improve the long distance lighting but the dip beam lens get hot, and if its bad weather with loads of grime on the road it soon clogs the lens and you seem to be cleaning them constantly!
Hope this helps

Are these legal on British roads?

Thanks Mark/Neil. I think I'll stick to the lower wattage but it sounds like they give an improvement worth the cost...
Kevin White

I have used these bulbs on my Honda Accord over the winter and was initially surprised at just how much light they emit.
They are the ones to go for - offering better White Light than any other manufacturer.
Although the "Blue" bulbs are tempting from a style point of view, if you want clear night vision - the OSRAM Silverstar are the bulbs for you.
Once Word Of Caution.
It does say on the box, that due to their high output they may not last as long as a "Normal" bulb.
I have found this to be the case, and have had to replace a bulb after 5 months use. So Effective - and rather expensive. But I will be sticking with them as there is no better bulb on the market if you want an excellent legal bulb.
The only thing to be at the OSRAM is a Phillips bulb, rated at 80 watts, if's for offroad use, and advised for use with GLASS lenses, due to the heat, but if you have two bulb sets, one for main and one for dipped then you could use these on your main beam, as use would be intermittent.
Hope thie helps - got the OSRAMS the cheapest I've found so far is at www.consumabulbs.com - but you may find cheaper on ebay....
