i was at eastern mg-rover this morning in chelmsford and they had 13 Z cars on the front for sale. they were a mix of specs and some had milage.
this is off the top of my head so dont quote me......
1.4ZR=7999 red
ZR 160 5 door 13700 silver
zs 120 12500
zs 180 14700 this had plates on, saloon ,yellow
zt 160 15999 blue
zt 190 18295 red
there were other colours and specs but too much to take-in on a sunday morning

How can your dealer have such a large stock when other
readers are complaining of long delays ? What is the REAL situation ? Exactly how many Z cars have been sold since launch and is that in line with company forecasts ?

No ! I wish the company every success but wonder whether these cars are really as good as made out,
and whether they will sell enough to enable MG Rover to start making an annual profit.If the answers are yes and yes,I might even buy one !

So you are saying MG Rover have to make a profit before you will buy a car from them ? Curious ! It's a good job everybody does not think this way....

Yes David,living in a "foreign" country what am I going to do with my car if the company goes out of business?(-some spare parts are already difficult to obtain)
Still I seem to have more loyalty than others-the Motoring Press in France have effectively advised their readers that it is unwise to buy any Rovers until the future situation of that company is clarified or assured! Without a strong foreign partner,this will only happen if they make/sell enough good cars to operate at a profit.Hopefully the new MGs will help to bring that about.

37 plus percent sales increase for September compared to September 2000. Of more importance the overall market share increased to over 4 percent, which is in line with the stated business plan. This remember has the backing of financial institutions that are not noted for rash moves or risks.

Overall effort now focussed on maintaining the improvement to consolidate the years improvements and stuff more words doen certain journalists throats!

Rover and MG;do you know if the SMMT still publish these ?

The SMMT site only shows manufacturers totals. But the Consumer Association has dismissed even those as a sham, saying Mitsubishi claim that the industry has pre-registered 500,000 - out of a total of 1,900,000.
