MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZS electrical

Having to take the ZS into the dealers - a problem has developed with the wipers.
The wipers work OK on fast but will not start on slow or intermittent. They will work on slow if I start them on fast and then turn to the slower setting.
The dealers will happily sort it under warrenty but was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems.

well, sometimes when i'm reversing up my drive the rear wiper comes on automatically (no the front wipers are switched off), and it sweeps 3-4 times.

Interesting Rob, clearly the designed facility for the rears to come one when reverse is engaged and the front sare on or on intermittent is not quite right.

I like the rear wiper activation! BTW the drivers window doesnt always go fully down. Its the detection unit that is at fault cos if you send the window up and then one shot down it it works. Strange eh - cudnt care less the car MG ZS 120+ is superb although some kids at where I work and staff think its old manish (im 26)

Hi,
RE:- One shot windows.

My ZS 180 5dr suffers from the "stop short" problem so I enquired at my dealer about it. We checked two other ZS's they had , and all showed the same symptoms. Stop short, and go all the way if manually asked to continue. After a dialogue with the factory the answer is apparently " The window channels need adjusting, we're aware of the problem and are correcting it on the line. If a customer complains, adjust the channels".

It takes about two hours (inc stripping the door trim off) and mines now booked in.

Hope this helps

This one-shot window thing is starting to annoy me. I've been to two dealers now who have supposedly rectified the one-shot problem, only to have the same old symptons the next day. Will going back and saying "The window channels need adjusting" actually work, or is there something else I need to draw their attention to? This problem never happened on my previous R45. Have Microsoft started making the windows? ;-) (bad joke!)

Finally got the wipers problem sorted.

After having to wait for a new relay assembly and getting it fitted it transpires that the motor was fault.

New motor fitted and all is OK.
