MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZT audio controls

Have a ZT on order with high line sat nav. Was wondering if a) the steering mounted audio controls still work with this (heard only work with standard head units?!) and b) if not, are the controls still fitted?
marcus

Yes they are fitted and yes they work.

The Sat Nav is entirely separate from the audio

Thanks for the response. Now I am more confused however! I understood, particularly from pictures that I have seen and a similar (same?!) unit I have used in a BMW X5 that the sat nav, tv, radio, tv and CD are all contained in the same unit?

The Sat Nav is a VDO Dayton system and has been modified to meet BMW's requirements. The modification has rather over simplified the system (presumably becuase BMW drivers are thick!). I understand it is the same one fitted into the 3 Series and could well believe the X5.

The Sat Nav box sits in a little hole on the back of the estate (that we have!) and assume in the boot of the saloon.

THe audio equipmewnt is either Philips on the cheaper specs or Alphine on the Conn. This sits in the central console with the CD unit in the glove box.

The controls on the wheel only control the audio. The Sat Nav is controlled from the console.

(A real VDO system has a remote that is MUCH better!).

Cheers Patrick,

know what you mean about the dumbing down for the Beemer drivers!

This is my understanding of how the high line sat nav will look, which appears to have the radio/CD/tape controls built in.

Yep, that is what your car will look like. Cleaver design of the plastic casing gives the impression of being all one unit.

It is very nicely laid out and a joy to use. SOOOOO much better than those grim little collections of nasty plastic buttons and garish colours that pass for audio kit in most cars!

Enjoy!

PS the telly is good to.
