MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZT - inlet manifold rattle

Back in August (now archived) I asked about this induction manifold rattle. I've now bought the offending ZT, complete with its rattle and I've had my quote of $3000 Aus to have it repaired by the local MG Rover firm. In the archived thread, Martyn mentioned that you do not need to replace the complete manifold, but he didn't mention what parts are actually needed. I've had a couple of quotes for secondhand induction manifolds from UK Rover breakers (prices range from about 150 to 250 pounds), but I assume these might be suffering the same problem, so I would prefer to fit the relevant new part.

Martyn, if you are logging in occasionally, could you please advise what parts I need and from whom you would recommend I get them.

Thanks

Send me an email and I can point you in the direction of some sites with more details on this.
BTW, flew over Canberra on Sunday/Monday en-route to Cooma.

The inlet manifold on our ZT180 has had a rattle for almost 12months now.I have had no problems, yet.Try priceing a manifold for land rover freelander about $200 cheaper. See you in the Gold Coast for easter ?
Tim Edmonds ZT

Thanks Tim. Do you know anything about the Kia Carnival, too, as a potential source of bits? I'm told it uses the KV6 engine.

Probably won't get to the Gold Coast after Tasmania this year. Once every two or three years is about as much as we can manage!

Martin ZT has steered me to a number of UK websites, too, which I am checking out at the moment, to see what the options are for curing the rattle.

Hi Guys,

I'd be very interested in your recommendations please, as I think I have the same problem in my ZT-T 190. Is the rattle one which is most pronounced when applying throttle, especially when, say, pulling away from standstill?

Karl - I've sent you an email which might not have made it across your moat, through your firewall and over the battlements into your castle. Let me know if it didn't!
