MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZT Rear Brakes

Has anyone else managed to get rear brake disks & pads for their ZT.

I managed to buy some Rover 75 disks which were also listed against the V6 ZT, however, they aren't vented like the rear disks on my ZT 190+ V6.

Any advice/website links would be gratefully received.

Cheers Andy,

I did manage to find the disks on http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/

and managed to get a discount of 15% + free delivery by looking on the following website, you may have to copy and paste the whole link below...

.. and then at the top of the page is an advert by this company and a code to enter for the 15% discount + FREE delivery.

great service, quick delivery, and reasonably priced too.

Although I am now finding it difficult to find the handbrake shoes, ah well, that's the fun of owning cars I suppose.

handbrake shoes oe part number sfs100190 look to be very expensive are your old ones shot or do they just need adjusting have never changed a set before on these models but have adjusted many .
common problem on 75 and zt
zs andy

The shoes have a ridge in them, fairly bad, from previous disk/drum. I was just going to buy new ones, to save the hassle of trying to bed in the old ones on new disk/drum.

Are they easy to adjust, is it just the multi spoked wheel thing in between the shoes (don't know correct name for it). I assumed the handbrake was self adjusting, but the handbrake seems really bad now.

Do I need to take the drum off again to adjust?

Your help would be much appreciated, as you said you have adjusted many.

PS - Any advice to stop brake squeel, it is bloody annoying, and it only happens when I am lightly touching the brake, i.e when I begin to brake and when I am letting the brake off but the car still moving, it dissappears when I press the brakes harder.

Cheers, Phil.

adjustment is a fairly simple affair remove one wheel bolt and with a torch look through the bolt hole while slowly turning the disc you should eventually see a wheel type adjuster which you can flick around with a small screwdriver till rear handbrake is binding then just slacken off a little by turning the adjuster the opposite way and bingo you have good handbrake again .
unadjust the cable at the handbrake lever end before starting this the readjust after you have finished i normally find 4 clicks and handbrake with rear handbrake shoes adjusted correctly will give a highly acceptable parking brake effeciency.
with regards to squeaking do you mean handbrake if so a little copper grease on the backplate contact points of handbrake shoes normally sorts this problem as well but will involve removal of disc to do this sorry
best regards andy
