MG ZR ZS ZT Technical - ZT-T Engine failure after 4000 miles
Wow, just heard that my new engine will be delivered early next week. I waited for 8 weeks on it, after i had a bearing failure, messing up my ZT-T's engine. That happened after just 7000 kilometers or 4000 miles. Pretty bad it broke down that fast, but the nasty bit is that i had to wait so long before it's on the road agin. Oh, and since i took delivery of it in May, i had to miss it for another 4 weeks cause some Belgian tart parked her Range Rover in the back. I still can't believe see didn't see my car....it's Trophy Yellow!!! Anyways, i hope i can enjoy it again next week and this time for a longer period. Drove a Rover 75 V6 Tourer as replacement. Man....what a boring car that is. Absolutely no power, no handling, silly fireplace like interior....horrid. MG-Rover, can you please skip that Rover thing. It doesn't add anything to this world but boredom.

Your stories & comments ,plus those of Roy on the Ciao site don't augur well for MGR's reputation. This is not the way to keep the ship afloat !

My colleague has had a ZS 180 for just coming up to 12 months. He just got it back last Monday with it's THIRD engine installed.... Cheers Kieren

Bummer, i better order a few extra engines then. Maybe I should already write a letter to MGR to warn them that i want to have my ZTT 190 replaced by a V8 if it happens again :-) Koen

My Rover 75 V6 has managed 76000 miles of enjoyable trouble free motoring, with nothing more than 4 routine services in this time - 15000 miles per service. So apart from consumables such as oil, filters and a set of plugs it has cost absolutely nothing in spare parts. As for sitting in the "fireplace like interior" for 76000 miles, that too has been an enjoyable experiance.

Just wondering if the people with replaced engines have been checking their oil consumption. The KV6 tends to use a fair bit of oil in its first few thousand miles. Kev

Very few people post thing like 'Yup my car is fine, reliable, no problems I'm pleased with it'. Places likes this are not 'representative' samples.

So far, so good - but early days with my ZT-T

Our KV6 equipped 75 has been utterly fantastic over 32k miles so far...

KV6 engined ZS180 nearly 20k miles.. no engine problems!!

Worth mentioning again. This BBS, like any other, is rather like a doctor's surgery waiting room - most people there are there because they have a problem. This can create a false impression for anyone new to the BBS scene.

my fathers ZS180 drank from high marker to off the bottom of the stick in within 700miles, but since then has hardly drank a drop (suprising really as he didn't buy it to tootle around in)

Checked the oil on a regular basis, but no probs there. Should be ready at the end of the week. Yummy :-)
