MG MGA - 1500 a/r bar

HI, was thinking about fitting an anti roll bar to a 1500 - anyone got any experienc of this....?

Get a copy of the new issue of the MGA from NAMGAR. Bill Spohn has an excellent installation article and addresses some of challenges the MOSS kit provides.

rw -- yes fitted one about 4 years ago. Dead easy and a damned sight easier than retro fitting the correct one to a 1600 last year.

Couldn't agree more with DC, I retro fitted a replacement MGB roll bar in original position and afterwards swore that I will never go through that disruption again. I think the Bob West bar as shown on one of Steve Gyles photographs under the title 'Where does the horn go' looks good and straightforward to fit.

After-market bar made by Addco does a good job and is VERY straight forward to install. Search for Addco in the archives. S/b lots of information there. Also, read the info on the MGA Guru website (http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/suspensn/fs102.htm)

Installed ADDCO front and rear during restoration, easy istallation, good fit, did a good job. Removed the rear a few years ago, for some reason never put it back on. Marv

Been reading the thread with some interest. Having a 1500 converted over to 1600 frame extension and the body off..would that change your prospective..becasue it is easier accomplished? My research leads me to believe that the 3/4" MGB bar from Moss combined with the MGA links from SC are the way to go. Comments?

Doug, If you have the body off , then fitting the 1600
a/r bar is a doddle with the 1600 front extension.Dont go too heavy with a/r bar for ordinary road use or you will get too much understeer. Not familiar with the links you mention but I am sure they would be ok.if specified for this combination.

Thanks, David. VB refers to Victoria British outside KC. I think most of my info came from Barney's site, but I have emailed him to make sure I got it right. And it looks like a piece of cake with the body off and the 1600 front extension..why would I do it any other way?Carl H. at Eclectric recomended a bigger sway bar than was originally offered. I am sure glad experts like Carl and Barney, and John Twist are around.
