MG MGA - 1500 Master Cylinder weeping
It has the "extended" top to the tank but seems to be weeping fluid around the bolts which secure it to the base. Anyone else had a similar experience ? |

You may need a new gasket. I made a new one for mine from some 1mm sheet rubber I had left over from lining a garden pond! . The gasket material should go completely around the screws and it's easy to split this area so that brake fluid can travel up the screw and emerge at the head..................Mike |

Roger Is it an original extension or a repro? I bought a repro and it weeped a bit. I found the mating face was imperfect. I flattened it on a sheet of glass lubricated with valve grinding paste. Steve |

You can also use a sheet of 400 wet n dry paper (coarser if you need initially) on a sheet of glass lubricated with WD40 to restore mating faces. Then a new gasket and your problem should be solved. Mike |

I wonder if the problem is the gasket material? Brake fluid is like diesel, it seeps where no other liquid can go. Have you tried cork? Barry. |
