MG MGA - 1600 Rear Wing Plinth Dimensions
| Here's is yet another reason why you should trial fit EVERYTHING to your MGA tub before sending her out for final paint prep. I mounted the 1600 Plinths on my rear wings and guess what? The wings supplied with my tub are from a 1500. So, the 1600 Plinths don't bolt right up. Does anyone out there have the dimensions from the bottom of the rear wing to the center line of the holes on the wing used to mount a 1600 Plinth? Much appreciated! Safety Fast! | Rick, if noone else comes up with something today I'll check tonight when I get home. I had a similar problem with MKII rear wings on a 1500 body and some kind soul on this board sent me a great drawing. You might even check the archives, it was several years ago. |

| I just looked at both my 1500 coupe (pic one) and my 1600. It appears that the 3 lower holes are in the same location on both. to turn the 1500 fender into a 1600 (Pic 2) all you need to do is drill an extra hole in the proper location. The right fender on my 1600 was a modified 1500 fender. It was modified with a rough cut 4th hole. (Pic 3) The tape in the pics wraps around to the edge of the fender not just to the bend.

This is the left fender.

This is a right 1500 fender that was modified to be used on my 1600.

| Ok. This is helpful. Let me see if I understand. So is the first hole up from the bottom of the wing correct for a 1500 or 1600? If so, then the only hole that needs to be drilled in the 1500 rear wing is the top hole for the 1600 plinth? Safety Fast! Rick Gregg Elkhorn, NE |

| Rick, I sent you the PDF file that was sent to me. It looks to be correct as far as I could tell. I don't have any way to change the format here at home, but I'll forward it to my work computer and try to print and scan it there into a JPEG and post it for everyone tomorrow. |

| Rick, This was covered in August last year and is in the archives under '1500 vs. 1600 light positions' mike |

| Often I can't view the first image. I think I found it was a bit more subtle - I can see the first image if it is the only image. |

Rick, here is the image converted to JPEG.

| P.S. the template will work for both 1500 and 1600 light plinths. Just use the lower three holes for the 1500, or the lower and upper holes for the 1600 plinth. The large hole for the wiring is the same in both cases. |

| The measurement in above drawing is from the crease at the rear. The tape in my pictures goes around to the edge of the metal and is hence longer. It is probably easier to be accurate measuring from the crease as in the drawing. That said the only measurement needed is to the center of the upper hole. All 1600 fenders had all 4 holes. As can be seen in my 3rd picture above the upper "1600" hole is covered by the 1500 plinth. A 1600 fender can be used unmodified for a 1500. A 1500 fender needs one hole drilled as Bill shows to make it work for a 1600. Included below is a picture of a photo taken during the restoration of 1600 Roadster # 90954. It clearly shows the 4 hole as original in all 1600 rear fenders.
