The design looks very messy and complex. Much too "over styled" for my taste. The simple, clean and elegant styling of the MGA is completely lost in there. There are shapes of MGA and MGB for sure, but then there are so many shapes...

Trying way too hard and failing, due to too many different styling cues, in my view.

Oh my! That is one ugly looking vehicle.

Ick.

"....and was created by the MG global design team"

It certainly looks like the result of a designed-by-committee car.

Not a fan. I can see the MGB grill and that is about it. I can see absolutely no MGA influence in it at all, and I even squinted real hard!
Chuck Schaefer

Looks like a super fat Mini to me.

I suppose it is a vehicle for its time.

There are lots of similar cars out there just now that seem to be selling well, the new small 2door Citroen DS3 and new Mini Coupe plus a lot of Japanese cars which are similarly half sports hatch-backs and the other half off-roader.

I cant say that I see much MGA in the design either but I am certain that they will most likely judge its success by the numbers sold.

What would be really interesting would be to see what they come up with if they decide to launch a new 2 seater MG sports car.

Maybe the times are not right for this just now but surely, even in 2012, everyone thinks of an MG as a fun-to-drive, open sports car.

They are trying too hard! Some good things there, but there are too many odd little design quirks. Why not come out with a modern roadster to compete with the supremacy of the Miata/MX-5? The only real competition is the BMW Z-4, though that oddly looks a bit like the thing in the pics here - both ugly.

My god its ugly! No sense of style about it.
Sorry.

I like it. I can see the MGA and MGB influence in the styling. I suppose you guys do not (did not) like the MGF/TF styling either?

Your right Jim Too busy, looks like it was designed by kids slamming monster energy drinks in auto design class. It does not give me the look or feel of a sporting car its more like a in your face mini SUV. What happened to simple and elegant? Chuck
