MG MGA - Air duct length?
How far should the two air ducts extend beyond the ducts clamps. Mine seems too close to the grill. |

Wow that's a good one! They're flexible so they can go pretty much where you want. I'll open the bidding at 1 to 1 1/2" from the grille. Now I'll go and check to see where mine are! Neil |

Not bad Neil. The top of my pipes are 1.5 inches set back from the rear of the closest grill slat. Steve |

Hi Neil, Flexible yes, so they can be bent as necessary. But, mine are as short as I can make them without cutting of course. Mine are about 1 to 1.5 inches from the grill opening also. It just looked a bit cramped to me, but maybe not? Since I have yet to fit the grill, I just didn't want there to be a fitment issue. |

My front ducts extend about 2" beyond the clamp. See image. (I split some rubber vacuum hose and put it over the end on the duct to make it look neater.) Jim ![]() |

Robert I got some black rubber tubing, slit it length wise, then pushed it on the circumference of the pipe. Made a decent finished look. Looking a bit tired now after 12 years. Steve ![]() |

Steve, That makes a neat finished look to the air duct! |

Well It was a guess and I would say I was miles out on my own car. the outside edge is almost touching the grille, maybe 1/4". There is, however a gap of about 1 1/2" on the inboard edge.

And the other side. By the way Steve your car looks amazing after 12 years of daily use! Its nearly 20 years since mine was done, but it hasn't had anywhere near the use. ![]() |

Thanks Neil! That looks about right then as mine is situated about the same location. Just didn't look right to me for some reason. Cheers! |
