MG MGA - Air flap

Can someone remind me of the orientation of the heater air flap valve and its crank? I assume the crank faces forwards, but what is the closed position of the valve, and with that I guess the crank pos is fixed by the screws?
Some members might think I am further on in my resto than I am by this question!

It says right on the control panel, "Push for air".

John, thats the part in question, yes. So yours is shown in the almost closed position with the tip of the flap forward and on the LHS of he car (looking fwd)? But the crank seems out of position with respect to the cable clamp. For the valve to open, it has to go more clockwise and the cable line does not look right. That is my problem.
Barney, my heater control panel has no markings (PO sprayed red paint over it) and it is dismantled, so I am starting from the flap.

Push the air control knob in. Turn the flap in line with the pipe to be w1de open. Connect the cable with the wire extended. When you pull the knob the butterfly flap will close. I haven't pulled my air control knob since 1986, except to verify that it still works. Wide open air for summer ventilation and for winter heating. The blower runs nearly all the time as well.

So, is there only one way to install the disc and crank?
Art Pearse

Seems to me you would do what Barney said which is with the button fully pushed in the flap should be open. When you pull the button out -- the flap would be closed.
