MG MGA - Aircraft Style Seat Belts?
Does anyone know a source for aircraft style seat belts such as the ones in this picture: http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/accessories/pics/acc5.jpg I'm not really interested in the chrome latch style that are more commonly referred to as aircraft seatbelts. Thanks, Christopher |

I got mine from Summit Racing. But, being racing seat belts, they have a rather short rated use life. Les |

Speedway motors also has some, about the least expensive I've run across at $60 for a 5 point setup. Have them in blue, black, red, or purple.

Have a look in the Moss MGA catalogue (Fall /Winter 2008) Page A13 . Similar belts as shown to those in the image above - referred to as Vintage Competition Belt P/N 222-211 $84.95 (lap only) Mike |

My first ones came from an Army surplus store back in the '60s. My current ones came from Wesco. About $50 for a lap belt. http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/racingbelts.html#lap-belts Les - does the rated life mean anything if the belt isn't being used in competition? My assumption is they will last as long as any other belt, but the sanctioning bodies require them to be replaced more frequently? Ken |

Thanks for the info fellas. Now another question, as I understand it the traditional mounting brackets on the MkII will not work with these belts. For those of you that have these style belts where and how do you mount the eyebolts they attach to? Thanks, Christopher |

Chris, if you check the link Ken posted that supplier offers different types of end fittings so you could probably work out something with the original MKII type mounts. At least the inside mount would be basically the same, just bolted to the transmission tunnel assembly crossmember and floor support. On the outside you might have to fabricate some sort of bracket that would bolt on in place of the MKII mount and take the end fitting for the new belt. Shouldn't be too hard to make something that was strong enough and safe. |

Chris, I you email me I can send you a drawing (pdf format) of the Mk11 mounting hardware arrangement as supplied by Clarke Spares in the US. Regards Mike |
