MG MGA - Aluminium Hardtop sidescreens

I am away from home (Thailand to be precise) and ned the dimensions of the factory aluminium hardtop side screens. One of mine is fractured and I appear to have a line on a set of frames and need to check that they are what is required.

I would like dimensions of the outside length of each edge.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

I've got a pair of original Weathershield frames but I believe there were two types for aluminium and fibre glass hard tops and I don't know which type mine are.

However, for what it's worth, measurements are:-

Top length* = 23 1/4"
Bottom = 32 1/2"
Front = 13 3/4"
Rear* = 12"

*Because of the top rear curve these lengths were to the extrapolated adjacent side.

Also measurements disregard any add-ons such as rubber mouldings,aluminium angle strips, etc. ...................Mike

Dominic, while your'e in Thailand just pop down to Australia and you can measure mine!

Dominic,

I have a set of aluminum side screens, but they differ in construction. One has a channel along the top for rubber weather stripping. The other has no channel on top. Is the latter side screen the type fitted for the hard tops? If so I can send some pictures and dimensions.

The ones with the rubber on the top edge are AFAIK the Moss ones - I used to have a set of those but was never very happy with them.

The Ally hardtop one are those with a screw-on flange at the bottom, which grows taller from front to back and which holds the rubber seal in place.

Apparently, for the two types of original Weathershield frames, the early type was for the aluminium hard top and the later was for the GRP one.

My aluminium frames, measurements above, are the early type. I found this out and have just remembered, when ordering new rubber seals from Todd Clarke............Mike

Thanks for the info. The dimensions check out and the deal is sealed.

I have the hardtop but not the correct side screens.
If someone has a set for sale Please send me a email.

There's a set of frames that appear to be original Weathershield on Ebay now (item no. 161348840087 ) with the correct aluminium angle strips plus seven rivets that hold the bottom rubbers in place. Not cheap however.................................Mike

Thanks, I think these are the moss repo,s because there is a rubber seal on top .?
I have been told that these will not fit the hardtop very well .
