MG MGA - Ancient bias ply spare tire - interest?
After all the comments about tire safety a few months ago, I'm finally making the time to get a new set for my 1600. I'm also going to replace the 40+ year old bias ply spare that I didn't replace last time I bought tires. I don't think it has ever been on the road. Should I just have the tire shop dispose of it, or would anyone be interested in a NOS tire? |

Sounds like OOS ! Not NOS. |

Depending on the origin of your spare tire cover, the new tire might not fit so well. I got rid of old unused bias spare when I got new radials and put a used radial in the tire cover (tire cover is an original). Really tight fit. If I had to do it over again I would keep the old bias spare. |

DJ, not sure which size tire you plan to go with, but you can always downsize the spare if needed to fit into the spare tire carrier. I run 165's and had to buy a 165 as a spare at the time as 155's were not available; nowadays 155's seem to have made a resurgence from a number of brands. Food for thought. |

165 fill fit into the spare space and through the rear bulkhead |

I run 165's The 165 spare tire is a little tight, but it fits. |

You need a radial spare. Mixing Cross-ply and Radial tyres on the same axle is dangerous (leads to complete unpredictable handling) and is illegal for VERY good reasons |
