MG MGA - Another wiper motor query

Thanks to all who sent me photos of original wiper motors. It would appear that the motor cover (steel) is black, and the rest is natural (cast alloy) or painted silver.
Now I have a question regarding the wiper motor mounting. I know it sits on three rubber bushes on the bracket. The bracket is then bolted to the heater shelf. The front sloted mount hole is bolted using one of the bolts (1/2') into the goal post frame.
The back two studs are fixed to the bracket, and their diameter is much smaller than the holes in the shelf. They have large flat washers, and it seems that there should be 1/2" dia rubber bushes between the studs and the metalwork. However, none are shown in the parts book, and I do not remember seeing any when I dismantled the car 2 years ago.
Does anyone know if there are bushes on these studs, or do they just float in the shelf holes?
Peter.

I am trying to understand your description. As you say, all the attachment bolts from the motor to the bracket have rubber bushes. The front (front of car)bracket bolt goes straight into the shelf. The rear bracket bolt attaches into another raised and tilted bracket. This latter bracket (on my car) is riveted (2 x flat head) to the shelf.

Peter there are 3 rubber grommets that fit into the 1/2" diameter mounting holes on mounting plate, and then the small diameter studs pass through the grommets and have washers on either side so that the wiper motor is suspended on rubber mounts. Perhaps this photo should help, which shows the other side of the motor from the one I sent yesterday.

Steve/Andy,
It is the 2 back "legs" of the raised and tilted bracket that rest on the shelf that I am referring to, and yes these are the legs on a small bracket that bolts with a single stud (1/4" dia) to the motor bracket.
On my cars, these legs are two studs welded to the bracket at their top end, and the studs go through the heater shelf. These studs are 3/16" diameter while the holes in the shelf are 1/2" dia. A big difference, hence causing me to wonder if they should have bushes fitted to them? Or maybe, the holes are just this big to allow for clearance/bracket positioning? The studs are not rivetted to the shelf - they have a large flat washer, a spring washer and a nut underneath the shelf. (at least on my '56 and '58 cars)
Thanks, Peter.

Peter, there are no bushes or grommets on those holes in the heater shelf. I assume that they are large to allow positioning of the motor bracket to get the best fit into the car. I installed the Moss type insulation on the inside of the fire wall and heater shelf which makes the holes seem smaller.

Peter, The wiper motor has never been disturbed on my '61 car. The rear two tiny bolts/studs are riveted to the bracket, poke through the shelf into the cockpit, very large diameter washer and nut.
I can't see any sign of a rubber bush.
I think it is as you say --- "the holes are just this big to allow for clearance/bracket positioning".
Hope this helps, Barry

Thanks Barry.
I now concur.
