MG MGA - Are 'A' battery boxes same as 'B'?
I have seen some discussion about "A" battery compartments...Are they the same size as early "B" battery compartments? Will A and B batteries interchange? Thanks Edward |

The construction of the battery boxes is different but the dimensions are the same. You can use a 12 v. Group 26 battery in both cars. |

Group 26 battery does not fit in the original MGA battery tray. You need to extend the tray, or insert a booster board in the tray to position the battery above the rear edge of the tray (then figure out how to hold the battery in place). |

Barney Moss offers a plastic battery box for "B's"...Is there a similar product available for "A's"? Thanks Edward |

No. The MGA battery tray is a bit smaller than the MGB battery box. For a standard size 6-volt battery MG offered the Battery Cover, like this: http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/accessories/at114.htm |

Turns out my "new" MGA , has a single 12V battery.... At least it's a bit easier to service. Edward |
