MG MGA - Beaulieu Spring Autojumble 14/15 May

Any one going?

Thinking about it - owed a pink chit from her indoors!

Steve,
I have a pink chit, too, probably for Sunday, as the Land Rover event is on as well.

May see you Shane, although I may have lost the pink chit. Her in doors has threatened to accompany me!

Steve,
That can have advantages. Last time I was accompanied the CinC bought a 1950s Noddy trike for the grandchildren. This gave me a free Joker to play on the other stalls. Slight chance that she may come this time, too, with 3 dogs...

As you appear to be a Land Rover man, perhaps you could keep your eyes and ears open for me on Land Rover Shelley jack data.

I am wanting confirmation on the following jacks:

LJ25C Series III ?
LJ27 WD (military) Series ?
LJ263 Early Range Rover ?
LJ264 Series III ?

If I go on Sunday I will ask the questions. I will decide on Friday which day.

Steve, when I got my 1975 series III, it had a LJ264 in the tool box.

I went on Saturday in the end, for family reasons, and missed the Land Rover event today. A few MGAs were on sale there - Barons auctioneers had one, Beaulieu Garage had another - the most interesting was in the Automart: a FHC with a ragtop. It was for sale at £8995, had been driven over 100 miles to the event, and was sold by the time I left. Hood looked a bit slack and it had vinyl seats and overpainted wing piping but was interesting to a coupe owner like me. I took a few (poor) photos but, as I missed the owner, was unable to see it with the hood down. No time to trim the photos for upload at present.

I changed from the Saturday to Sunday so I had the chance of bumping into you! (I also wanted to watch the Cup Final on the Saturday).

I saw that car too. I did not realise it was a converted Coupe. I did not study it that closely.

It was very quiet on the Sunday which made it a pleasure for browsing.

I was surprised at the number of car jacks on sale, usually hardly any. I found one new Shelley type. I will be entering it on the database soon. It will take my list to 58 variants. There was one LJ225 (droopy snout - non MGA) jack priced at £150. Last year on Ebay these were going at about £60, although this year 3 have gone for about £120 each. What I find amusing is that no one knows what cars had this variant. There must be loads of Healey and MGA drivers out there who think that there is only one type of LJ225.

I only found one stall that had more than a couple of MGA parts. There was not a lot of MGB stuff either.

As usual, I thought all the prices were very high. I think they play to the European visitors who were there in abundance.
