MG MGA - Bob West contact
Hi all, I've been trying to contact Bob West for some time, without success. I've tried email (srx210 and robertiwest) and phone (mobile and landline), does anyone have any other suggestions? I hope he is OK. Regards, Mark |

Hi Mark,
I do know that Bobs email address and website are no longer connected to Bobs business, apparently they have both somehow been "hi-jacked" by persons unknown and are not in his control. AFAIK, his landline and mobile telephones are still working but I think Bob probably doesn't respond to unknown numbers. I am hoping to call in to see him later next week to collect some trim panels that his trimmer, Les is making for me. Also, I need a new set of rear brake drums and shoes and so I do need to see Bob. So, if it is ok with you, I will mention that you are trying to contact him and will reply on here. Cheers Colyn |

Colyn. Just my 2penneth. Loads of people, including me, have found it difficult to contact Bob from time to time. (And I bought my Twin Cam from him almost twenty years ago so I know him reasonably well!) We all know he has been easing back from front line MGA business recently but is still a great source of car parts and a font of knowledge on the cars. Could I suggest you ask him, when you visit, if we could establish a new line of contact for the future. He is such a valuable member of our community and needs to be kept in contact. Bruce. |

Thanks for the replies, Colyn and Bruce. I did try texting his mobile number, hoping that would get around the unknown number filter. Please mention that I’ve tried contacting Bob when you see him. Bruce’s suggestion is a good one, too. Regards, Mark |

Hi Colyn When you are with Bob West could you ask him about the issue about most brake shoes being sold now being undersize resulting in many of us having to put packing under the adjusters particularly on the back single cylinder set up? Has he got correctly sized shoes? Are you going to be making it up here in July? I attach photo taken yesterday from lunch venue to tempt. I resume we will see you in Lancaster? Paul ![]() |

Hi Mark and Bruce, assuming that I do get to see Bob, yes I will ask him if we could set up a new contact number or email address.
Strangely enough Paul, whilst I am collecting some new cockpit trim panels from Les at Bobs, I am going to ask Bob if he can get me a new set of rear brake shoes in the Mintex M1144 material. I did fit a brand new set recently, but an oil seal in the diff failed and soaked one side in hypoid!, so I am using a standard rear set of shoes just now. I will ask him about the brake shoe issue for you. We are booked at the Lancaster MGA Weekend in May, but there is some doubt about us making it because my wife Chris had a fall at home a few weeks ago and has broken two lumbar vertebrae. It may still be too painful for her to travel in an MGA for hours. I am in the process of having a spare boot lid painted to match the new paint job and it will have a boot rack fitted so that I can carry a wheelchair if we still need one. The boot-rack will look a little bit odd on my bumperless car, but needs must. I have booked a hotel for the Scottish MGA weekend too, but hopefully, we will be fit to travel. Cheers Colyn |

I did get to see Bob West today, he is fit and well but he is not in his office every day.
He says he tries to respond to any answerphone messages left on his office phone and also he is still happy to receive mobile phone calls and text messages. Bob West office phone number is 01977 703828 Bob West mobile number is 07919347320 If you call from outside the UK you have to replace the zero at the beginning of the numbers with either +44 or 0044 He no longer owns the old email address srx210 Cheers Colyn |
