MG MGA - Bonnet release 'slider'

Hey fellows,

Looking at each, the MGA Parts List, Moss catalog, Victoria British, unfortunately all show the same diagram therefore none show the position of the part which I have seen refered to as the "slider" of the bonnet release. So, I can't figure out what order these go in to have all work smoothly. Any information would be apprecaited. Cheers!

O.K. then........

I called Mike Ash, Technical Editor for MGA! I described the "slider" part that was in the zip bag of parts tagged "hood release". After talking with him, it seems this part is not to be included in the assembly and appearently is a latch release for another make/model of car. Sure looks like to belongs though. So, it seems I do have all the required parts and don't have to try and figure out how to add this additional piece! He is curious though so I'm sending him a few photos so he can try to figure out what it goes to. I'll post once this is solved. Cheers!

I can't figure out what part or diagram you are talking about. It does seem that if the guy who took the car apart had one, then it must have come on the car!
Pictures, drawings, precise references could help.

I'm not clear on the part you are talking about. Is it possible you are looking for the spring and toggle bracket attached about halfway up the pull rod between the firewall and the front of the car? There is a small, two hole bracket that slips on the rod just rear of the two guide brackets welded to the body. A coil spring atttaches in the other hole and the other end of the spring is looped over the 7th fender bolt from the front of the car. The assembly is just held on by the tension in the spring and the friction of the bracket on the rod. The intention is to minimize vibration in the long rod.

Todd Clark has a good discription in his technical guide.

Hope this helps
