MG MGA - Boot lid
Just attached the boot lid to the hinges. Nice gaps all round, but It won't catch on the lock. I have the catch on the lid as far down as it will go. Don't want to push too hard on the ally lid. I have the Moss hollow type boot seal in place. What to do? |

Did you try to get the lid to catch with the boot seal removed (or is that in with adhesive...?) |

New rubber has quite a bit of resistance...Chances are that the seal is interfering... I have to really force mine down to catch, but I have a luggage rack to give me a little grip.... Edward |

There are two cross head screws on the latch striker on the lid that you can adjust to make it work with the new seal. JIM in NH |

George, rubber is not glued in, so I can try without. Jim, the striker is as low as it will go. |

I sometimes find that the catch on the sill that the stroker engages works a bit loose and the lid won't lock. Screwing up tight fixes it. |

Perhaps you could elongate the two holes a tadge more with a file to get the striker down further? Steve |

Steve, might just do that! Art |

I am having difficulty attaching the hinges on boot lid. Are there any pictures showing this attachment? Thanks, guys! |

Got it closed! Problem is too much arch in the lid compared to the body. Had to pack 1/8" under the brace next to the lock to arch the body a bit, and pack 1/16" under the lid catch assembly to lower it.(I coould have filed the holes). Should have fixed this before the painting! (de-arching the lid). |
